How much change did you want, anyway?
Did you really think we needed change after 8 years of Dubya Bush?

Did we really need change?

What policies of Bush were you so unhappy with?

What did you expect, anyway?

1. Well change was the advertisement.
I was kinda hopeful for something more noticeable.

2. It has become clear that the word "change" referred not to a
grand, sweeping turn to a more just, equitable and sustainable society. It really meant "small" or "chump" change. Doooh!

3. An end to crimes against humanity, following the Constitution, that kind of stuff
I know; I'm asking a lot.

5. Here's what I expected and also what we deserved
I expected pretty much what's happened to date. Doesn't matter why either. But here's what I
believe the citizens deserved:

- an immediate end to torture as a national policy;
- a rapid withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan;0
- a strong jobs program, very strong, to get things going;
- catastrophic medical care for all and then a plan for rational health reform;
- a national cram down for all mortgages to reset them at fair rates, eliminating the distortions
from the real estate bubble;
- attention to the poor and helpless, who are suffering most in the recession;
- strong financial support for education;
- expansion of social security benefits and the end of ripping off payroll taxes to fund war and other
military efforts;
- bring the troops home from the 800 foreign installations;
- real tax reform with restoration of the payroll tax on the ultra high incomes;
- a infrastructure initiative to fix the nation and kick in a obs program; and
more pro citizen programs, which we can start and afford at any time we want.

7. And I would have settled for any 6 of those and just swallowed the rest as bipartisanship.
Mostly, anyway. What I got was a political spanking which, after 8 years of Bush, at first left me in a state of disbelief and shock- but which now I am thankful for.

You know, all of us are getting one hell of an education in American politics which usually takes a lot longer than 10 years to build.

In the last 2 years I have learned some awful truths about how the world really works that Bush could never have taught me. Only the actions of someone like Obama can really drive the idea home.

Middle class America is going to be thinking on revelations like that while they're in the bread line and I doubt they'll forget.

13. I think it is the list of the majority of people
if you sit them down in a rational setting with some decent information.

Like minds think alike!

15. Oh you and your ponies ...
:hi:

I didn't even have a list, just wanted to see less outright theft and thuggery by the ruling class. Alas, it remains.

12. We needed to change everything Bush did that is possible
to change and I was unhappy with all his stupid asinine policies. I expect a lot. Oh by the way Iraq did nothing to us and we created Saddam Hussein.
