CBC: Sun TV sets April launch date for new network [Canada's "Fox News North"]
Edited on Mon Mar-07-11 10:35 PM by tuvor
Sun TV's brand of right-wing television news is set to launch April 18, the Quebecor parent company has confirmed.

Company spokesman Serge Sasseville told The Canadian Press that the Sun News Network will hit the airwaves in six weeks.

The conservative all-news channel is hoping to replicate the success of the Fox News network in the United States.

The 24-hour news channel was set to launch in January but faced several startup challenges -- including the recent resignations of members of its Ottawa bureau.

2. I don't think it will work. Canadians, on the whole, are well informed because of our excellent
public radio, public schools, etc.

3. IMO, if we were all well-informed, Harper wouldn't be flirting with a majority in the polls.
Still, I hope you're right.

9. Oh he has done a good impression of someone benign as of late. Fact is people
are happy with how the country/economy is going so that is reflected in his poll numbers. When they poll about conservatives themselves, they don't do nearly as well. But I agree there is a big danger there. I think Ignatief has kept his powder very dry for a long time and the creepy stuff Harper has done will come back to haunt the Conservatives.

I was thinking more of the National Post and how it hasn't been dumbed down. Remember the conservatives in the USA has been misinforming people for several generations. We haven't had neocons live here for nearly as long (except in Alberta). And we have the example of the USA to learn from. I really do think people will recognize they are being fooled with and will be disgusted.

I know my mom was really pissed off about Harper forcing several government departments to use 'the Harper Government' instead of the usual 'Government of Canada'.

10. Oh if the Conservatives win a majority I'm sure they will attack that law. Then the lying will
disgust people. Canadians are outward looking because we have to be.... we are small so we need to know a lot about the world outside. I don't think Sun tv would start with the lies even if they were alowed to. They have to start much more subtlely. And by the time they can start with the lies, in a decade, it will be well known what the neocons are up to in the USA (WI protests have started that education throughout the USA already).

7. It's not really fox news if you admit to being skewed. I mean, Fox news is like Colbert...
