The huckster to be the main speaker at Pittsburgh NRA convention!
Edited on Mon Mar-07-11 11:03 PM by Bravo Zulu
The National Rifle Association announced today that former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, a former and possible future presidential candidate, will be the featured speaker when it holds its convention in Pittsburgh in the spring.

In addition, the NRA announced that country music star Craig Morgan will headline an affiliated show at Stage AE on April 29, and comedian Jeff Foxworthy will perform during the convention.

The annual meeting, which features exhibits of firearms and accessories, will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center April 29 to May 1.

About 60,000 people are expected to attend.

3. Last time they were in my hometown it was Cheney

I enjoy going to the exibit hall but I'd never pay them to listen to their RW speakers.

I understand that Rachel Maddow is going to visit the show as Meghan McCain's guest. Wonder if she will come down on a Friday or on the weekend. I'm going on Friday when the show is here to try to avoid some of the crowd.

They do bring in crowds & income to a host city.

Pittsburgh is bracing for its biggest convention of the year, one that could inject more than $23 million into the local economy, boosters say.

The National Rifle Association is returning to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center April 29 to May 1 for the group's 140th annual meeting. Some 72,000 attendees are expected, up from the 61,000 who came to the NRA's last convention in Pittsburgh in 2004.

The NRA announced Monday that Fox News contributor and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee will headline one of the convention nights next month, alongside comedian Jeff Foxworthy and former talk show host Michael Reagan. Vice President Dick Cheney was the keynote speaker seven years ago, and many more prominent GOP names likely will be announced as 2011 speakers as the meeting draws closer.

Partially based on estimates from the NRA's convention last year in Charlotte, the city's tourism agency VisitPittsburgh calculates that the event will generate $23.7 million in local spending.

4. Hopefully, someone there will have the balls to ask Huckabee about Clemons
I'm sure it'll be nice and entertaining for the NRA crowd.
