12. I don't observe Lent. One of the last times I did, though, I read somewhere about trying to make

Lent about doing something one doesn't usually do, instead of "giving up" something. Making a sacrifice of time, money, attention or creation for someone else, instead of yourself. I liked that approach. I get tired of all the "*I* am giving up this" and "*I* am giving up that" that one hears around Lent.
