2. During lava eruption, NEVER stand with legs on either sides of the crack!

Wow! What a timelessly primeval scene of destruction. Check this one out, entitled "Video showing lava pouring from the fissure into a seemingly bottomless crack."

Before viewing it, just roll that title around in your head!

"Video showing lava pouring from the fissure into a seemingly bottomless crack."

It does not disappoint and there is something, something akin to a scene from Journey to the Center of the Earth which scares the crap out of me, heh heh.

fill the vent hole at the summit and slowly fill the huge crater of Pu'u 'Ō'ō. I figured something was brewing. But I never thought for a minute the crater of Pu'u 'Ō'ō would totally collapse. It is over 500 yards in circumference and fell over 300 feet. Then down from it, the ground split open with over over 150 earthquakes and lava started spewing skyward. Awesome. Only Mother Nature could accomplish something like that. But the people that reside in Kalapana are probably breathing easier because the flow that has been burning their homes slowly but surely is no longer being fed.
