So, the House is our last hope. Get on those phones and melt down the House switchboard
I recognize that trying to stop this abomination of a "compromise" on extending the tax cuts is a long shot, but given the grave damage that this bill is going to inflict on the poor, working and middle class, we simply can't give up.

Obama essentially paralyzed both the House and Senate by interjecting his own faceplant cave on the issue, thus forcing the Senate to back their president rather than to risk open warfare in the ranks. However the House isn't so circumspect, and there is real unhappiness within the House, so we still have a slim chance.

Get on the phone, write letters and emails, get in contact with your representatives, get in contact with any representatives and urge them to kill this bill. We simply can't afford this monstrosity of a give away to the rich, and we can get a better deal.

So get going, let's ride this horse out to the bitter end. Who knows, we just might win this one. Let's hope so, because if we lose, this entire country, except for the rich, loses.

2. Funny how people not wanting others to exercise their Constitutional rights are unreccing this.
Essentially they're saying that we shouldn't participate in our government. How very unAmerican.

4. I don't think we are getting unemployment extensions without giving out a lot.

5. As I was stating last week, Obama could take UI extensions off the table,
Simply do what McConnel was wanting him to do last summer, pay for them out of left over stimulus money. He could even brag about it as a bipartisan moment. That would make it a straight up contest between tax cuts for the rich vs. tax cuts for the middle class.

But sadly, Obama is not that kind of fighter, in fact it looks like he isn't any kind of fighter at all. I recognize that it's a long shot, but the House is our only hope at stopping this monstrosity.

6. The stimulus could be used for UI without input from congress?
Is that a piggy bank?

7. Yep, that's in the language,
Some of the remaining stimulus funds are under earmarks, but there's approximately sixty-seventy billion left that isn't attached to anything. In fact the 'Pugs are planning to force Obama to take that left over money and apply it to the deficit next year. So why not use it for something truly stimulative this year:shrug:

8. I don't want you to be angry but here goes...
This is going through no matter how many calls or emails they get. We have had a majority Senate and House for quite a while now. they could have addressed this issue a long time ago. Please take the time and look at this from another point of view. Knowing we have had the majority Senate and House, why hasn't every piece of Democratic legislation we wanted already been pushed through??? Because if it passes both Houses it ends up on the Presidents desk for signature into law or veto. And why hasn't those very same people advocate for our best Interest. Answer- They are tied to their corporate interest and cannot choose the will of the people over that. Because once they start accepting corporate campaign contributions, and donations to their personal foundations, they can no longer Govern for the actual people who sent them there. That is your Washington D.C. culture.

Yes you can call,e-mail,write letters, send a telegram, put a note in a bottle, but when it comes to the average American, you have very few who will look out for the interest of the people over corporate loot. In order to change it we would have to ban every lobbyist from every big corp thats in America. Won't be done. Especially now that they can be treated as individuals!!!! I want to fight also but I think we need a more strategic way.

10. By all means.
I'm telling mine that I want them to expire for everybody until the Federal Reserve submits to an audit and we know the genuine and real debt we are really facing. If the Fed is giving money to foreign banks off the books, then we have a huge problem nobody is paying attention to.

11. The Senate wouldn't pass middle-class-only cuts. And the Senate knows this.

Your post is a misrepresentation of what happened. They're not "forced" to do anything except go along with Jim Webb, Ben Nelson, Russ Feingold, and Joe Manchin. Those are the guys you should have a beef with.
