Coffee is a drug with bad side effects
And this is the only drug allowed legal status by your corporate overloads.
The reason being is that it makes workers more efficient robots at the expense of their own health.
The effects of coffee in your nervous system are slow to kick in.
I am not gonna tell you what the effects are. Do your own research.
Of course nobody lives forever, it's your choice.

Face it, there is more in the environment that will kill you other than pot, cigarettes, cigars, coffee, booze, coke, etc... If you run in or near traffic, live near industrial activity or almost anywhere else something will get to you; be it elevated background radiation from fallout, contaminated food/water from antibiotics, pesticides born in the cells of the plants we consume; the pesticides we spray on them, radon gas in our showers, fracking waste, bp spill, corexit, stress, fear, financial woes, yada, yada....

13. Some GOOD side effects
Coffee consumption cuts your risk of dying from breast cancer or colon cancer.
Coffee cuts your risk of getting Type 2 diabetes.
Coffee cuts your risk of having a stroke.

Interestingly, the initial studies were done under the assumption that coffee was bad. Researchers expected to find evidence that coffee consumption was bad for us and were shocked to get results showing the opposite.

Civilization has seen those in authority doling out one kind of drug or diversion throughout history to keep the masses under control. It's not a novel concept or even a strange fact.

The Qur'an specifically prohibits coffee, along with alcohol. It was written in the early 7th century CE.

Coffee was introduced into Europe early 17th century. Coffee houses sprung up almost immediately.

34. There are some interesting good side effects, also. It kind of balances things out.
Newer studies have also shown that coffee may have benefits, such as protecting against Parkinson's disease, type 2 diabetes and liver cancer. And it has a high content of antioxidants. But this doesn't mean you should disregard the old maxim "Everything in moderation." Although coffee may not be very harmful, other beverages such as milk and juice contain nutrients that coffee does not. Also, keep in mind that coffee accompaniments such as cream and sugar add fat and calories to your diet. Finally, heavy caffeine use — on the order of four to seven cups of coffee a day — can cause problems such as restlessness, anxiety, irritability and sleeplessness, particularly in susceptible individuals.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/coffee-and-health/AN01354

A growing body of research shows that coffee drinkers, compared to nondrinkers, are:

less likely to have type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and dementia
have fewer cases of certain cancers, heart rhythm problems, and strokes
“There is certainly much more good news than bad news, in terms of coffee and health,” says Frank Hu, MD, MPH, PhD, nutrition and epidemiology professor at the Harvard School of Public Health.

But (you knew there would be a “but,” didn’t you?) coffee isn't proven to prevent those conditions.

Researchers don't ask people to drink or skip coffee for science's sake. Instead, they ask them about their coffee habits. Those studies can't show cause and effect. It's possible that coffee drinkers have other advantages, such as better diets, more exercise, or protective genes.

My doctor PRESCRIBED coffee.

Studies on coffee have shown that consumption correlates negatively with Type II and various forms of cancer. Plus, I love it.

Is it good for you if you eat a bad quality diet? I don't know - a lot of Americans eat a diet high in processed foods, and thus high in sugars and fats. But if you eat a healthy diet, I think for most people coffee is healthy. It is high in anti-oxidants, and the apparent protective factor against cancers is probably due to that. Both tea and coffee have some good effects.

I am also at a high risk for stroke because of an infection I have of the brain, and coffee seems to have anti-inflammatory effects inside the blood vessels.

Coffee and Life Expectancy

"A study was conducted of over 84,000 U.S. women and over 41,000 U.S. men from the early 1980s to 2004. The study recorded people’s coffee drinking habits and their long-term health and life expectancy. They found that drinking coffee (up to six cups a day) did not impact the life expectancy of the over 125,000 people in the study."

Some of us crazy addicts drink coffee simply because we like it.

And if corporate overlords were in charge of drug policy, wouldn't alcohol be illegal and cocaine legal?

I am an ovo-lacto vegetarian, 56 years old, no chronic health problems, run an 8 minute mile and pride myself on healthy eating.

I love coffee. I've been drinking it since I was 9 before parents figured out that giving caffeine to an already hyper-active little girl might not have been a great idea. But after all these years, the only bad effect is when I give it up and go through withdrawal. So I've solved that problem by never giving it up.

But seriously, my only problem with coffee is the same problem I have with all cash crops grown in developing nations: it takes land and resources away from indigenous people who could be sustaining their own population, not working for paper money that barely gets them by. So I try to only buy Hawaiian coffee (been to Kona, they're not doing too badly there!) and only consume 2 or 3 cups a day.

Yeah, it makes you think better, it allows you to skimp on sleep, but I don't think most of us are serving up those mental resources to our corporate overlords! Lots of us write, play music, take beautiful photographs, invent new gadgets, et al. I don't think you can actually measure how much brain power goes to each task you perform on a daily basis.

66. I'm not much for coffee but I'm a caffeine junkie. It alleviates migraines
and helps me be just a tad less antisocial.

68. And this is the only drug allowed legal status by your corporate overloads.
I don't think it's possible for you to be more wrong about that.

Alcohol is legal.
Tobacco (along with all the byproducts put in it) is legal (sort of).
Over-the-Counter drugs are sold in hundreds of thousands of stores.

Don't let that stop your hyperbolic rant though. I'm sure that coffee (which humans have been consuming for many thousand years) is all just a plan by Evil Corporate Overlords(tm).
