America is bored with Glenn Beck
http://www.salon.com/news/glenn_beck/index.html?story=/politics/war_room/2011/03/08/pareene_beck_fox

"Have you heard? Popular medicine show entertainer Glenn Beck is a bit less popular than he used to be. His show -- already something of a loss-leader for Fox News, as they've lost most of the better class of advertisers -- has lost a million viewers since last summer. It's still doing well, but any random frothing talk radio windbag could pull the same numbers on Fox at 5 p.m., and without the advertiser-worrying controversy.

In the New York Times this weekend, David Carr addressed a few of the possible reasons for the drop-off in Beck's popularity -- his shtick has gotten depressing, he's less fun than he used to be -- but he's always been gloomy, apocalyptic, and relentlessly repetitive.

Sure, the novelty's worn off. Lots of people have probably just gotten bored with him. I am kind of bored with him, though his efforts to spin the recent Middle East upheavals have been impressive, even for him. (Without the guiding light of the late Cleon Skousen's skewed history lessons, Beck has to improvise his take on world events, which can be fun.)..........................."

7. And So Does The Rest Of The Corporate Media
There's not a day where I don't see Dreck mentioned on Ed or LO or Rachel or the Daily Show. While Dreck's show has half the audience it did a year ago, his batshittiness still is spread to many millions by those who echo his crap. While his little treehouse may be empty it's still fueling the rest of Faux Noise and hate radio. To use the old PR axiom...say good, say bad, just say. As long as people keep talking, he'll continue to be a factor and an asset for Faux.

2. None of his end of the world predictions are coming true.
That is it in a nutshell.

Obama hasn't taken everyone's guns. There are no camps. HCR passed and granny wasn't executed. And the DOW and the job situation are improving.

Glen has been breathlessly predicting the end of the world for about 2 years or so, but every morning, the sun comes up and taunts him and his remaining listeners.

8. The point of Beck was to prevent discussions of liberal economics
I believe that the powers-that-be have been using guys like Beck to be more of a distraction than anything else. A distraction from what? Why, gee, people discussing liberal solutions to the economic problems. Just look at us right now, we're not talking about how to implement liberal programs that get people jobs. Instead, we're talking about that self-described "rodeo clown" and his stupid antics. Viewing Beck from this perspective, I think a lot of people may be able to agree as what's been going on here. The whole point is to be so batshit crazy that liberals find it too irrestable to ignore, so we spend our time laughing at Republicans when instead we should be fighting them. This whole time the Republicans have been robbing us.
