If the problem with schools is teachers
and the problem with Social Security is old people

and the problem with Medicare is sick people

and the problem with unions are the workers

and the problem with unemployment is the unemployed

and the problem with Wall Street is the investors

then the problem with the government must be the politicians.

How about this, how about every single politician, from Obama on down, shows how much they are willing to sacrifice. How about they give up their health care, pay for their own pensions and take a serious pay cut because I swear to fucking god if I hear one more asshole who makes $150,000 a year whine about how $40,000 a year teacher is living high on the hog I'm going to go fucking postal.

Reality does not exist in their world

5. You made a very interesting Freudian slip there
Edited on Tue Mar-08-11 04:18 PM by Nederland
In almost all of those cases the organization or program listed was created or designed to serve or help the people listed:

Social Security was created to help old people.

Medicare was created to help sick people.

Unions were created to help workers.

Unemployment was created to help the unemployed.

Wall Street was created to help investors.

There are two exceptions in your list:

Government was not created to help politicians. Government was created to help people.

Schools were not created to help teachers. They were created to help children.

I find it interesting that you made that slip. What do you think it says about how you view the purpose of schools?

6. The purpose of schools?
Edited on Tue Mar-08-11 05:12 PM by walldude
I have 3 children in public schools. My sister and my mother are teachers. I know EXACTLY what schools are for. I know who is fucking them up, I know who is helping them.

I also know that I wasn't talking about what these institutions were designed to do, but who is being blamed for their downfall. So your entire premise makes no sense at all. If I were talking about who these institutions were designed to help that might be a different story. But hey don't let that get in the way of you shitting on my thread.

Thanks for playing...

edit: oh and one more thing, if you think the government is there to help the people you haven't been paying any attention...

12. I have almost the exact same scenario
I have 4 children in public schools. My sister is a teacher and my mother was a teacher. Like you, I also know EXACTLY what schools are for.

Despite these similarities, I'm pretty sure you and I disagree about what the solution to our fucked up schools is.

15. And the sick thing is? The THINK 150k is middle class wages!
Part of the problem imo is that Washington DC critters have no idea what reality is like for us working poor stiffs...they choose NOT to but on those shoes or travel down our road with us. Frankly, I think GWB destroyed the presidency for everyone else to come.

19. your premises are all incorrect.
and your conclusion is only partly correct. there are a handful of politicians who are honestly working to correct problems.

the rest are sociopathic criminals.
