NYT: Plan for Test Votes on Budget Erodes
After holding negotiations with Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and other administration officials last week, Democrats and Republicans said they intended to put competing plans on the floor and let the chips fall where they may in hopes of spurring movement toward a compromise.

But Mr. Reid, in an angry floor speech Tuesday morning, said Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader from Kentucky, was refusing to move ahead as they had agreed. Mr. Reid suggested that Senate Republicans did not want to vote on the $61 billion in cuts approved by their colleagues in the House.

“It seems Republicans themselves must have finally read their own budget,” Mr. Reid said. “Because now even they’re running away from it.”

“Where I come from, people keep their word,” Mr. Reid added. “I’m disappointed the Republicans refuse to keep theirs.”

1. Another day, another republican lie
They truly make me sick to my stomach.

If they believe that they have all the answers, come out and make your case! Convince us that you can "save" us from what YOU/GOP have done to America!

Cowards. Evil nasty cowards.

Stand firm Democrats - and get STRONG. You have the majority behind you if you will just step up and start fighting back!

Shine on,
Annette

2. Republicans don't want their budget on the record as losing, they're cowards
Reid should go ahead and make them vote on the house GOP's budget anyway, even if it'll take a week to get around all the filibuster delays. That way everyone will know that their plan is dead in the water, which was the whole reason Reid was pushing for a vote on it in the first place.
