Wisconsin GOPer Kapanke: I Expect A Recall

Wisconsin GOPer Kapanke: I Expect A Recall

Eric Kleefeld

The recall efforts in Wisconsin are gathering steam -- and as WisPolitics reports, one of the targeted Republicans, state Sen. Dan Kapanke, now says he expects organizers to gather enough signatures to trigger a recall election against him.

However, Kapanke says he is not backing down from his support of Gov. Scott Walker's anti-union budget proposals:

Still, he said he was undeterred by the effort and remained committed to the guv's budget repair bill.

...

"I'm willing to stand up and take that vote," Kapanke said.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel notes its rankings of the state Senate districts that Kapanke represents the bluest district in Wisconsin of any Republican state senator: Obama carried it by over 23 points in 2008, and in the 2010 Republican wave Scott Walker won it by a margin of less than one point.

1. Good-bye Dan.
He may as well stay with Walker. There's not much he could do to survive a do-over.

3. The recall election or his vote on Walker's side?
Trust me, the recall efforts are collecting signatures rapidly. There will be numerous recall elections across the state.

5. You'd think someone might try to cut a deal to avoid a recall
Considering how the GOP won't really lose anything other then a bit of humiliation to be forgotten within a week in today's short attention span media, you'd think someone would be more willing to cut a deal to avoid being recalled.

7. The petitions are circulating right now.
There is an organization in every affected state Senate district. We have 60 days to get lots of signatures (essentially 1/4 of voters in each district).
