Poll question: Will lawmakers from Michigan or South Carolina be next to join Wisconsin & Indiana in Illinois?
Edited on Tue Mar-08-11 10:35 PM by Tx4obama
Currently there are 14 Wisconsin state senators in Illinois,
and there are 40 Indiana state house assembly members in Illinois, (since February 22nd).

Now South Carolina Gov Nikki Haley is planning on following in the foot steps of WI Gov Walker. In South Carolina state senate there are 26 republicans and 19 democrats, so if the democrats leave the state - there won't be a quorum!

And Michigan Gov Rick Snyder is planning on fiddling with employee compensation practices in his budget bill. The Michigan state assembly (house) consists of 110 seats: 63 republican and 47 democrats (if the rule is 2/3 for a quorum then if the dems leave the state there wouldn't be a quorum).

So, do ya'll think lawmakers from South Carolina or Michigan will be first to head to Illinois?

2. Collective bargaining by state workers is illegal in SC
Ergo, it' can't really be like WI and IN. And, I doubt the Dems here have the guts to leave the state. Most of them are Blue Dog types as it is.

3. Haley is going to go after 'employee pensions' etc. The state senate can stop her.
So, in my opinion, South Carolina is still similar to Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana.
