Bill to limit student voting.
Edited on Tue Mar-08-11 11:46 PM by white_wolf
New Hampshire republican William O'Brien and republicans have introduced several bills that would limit student voting. O'Brien even admits that he is doing it because college students according to him vote liberal because they are foolish and lack life experience. The bills vary from state to state, but O'Brien's would make it show that students must declare permanent residence to vote. Frankly I think if we are going to ban people from voting for being foolish lets start with Republican voters since you can't get much more foolish than them. Anyway here is the only link I've been able to find. I'm still looking for a better one. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/03/06/AR2011030602662.html

1. Can we pass a bill that prevents non-billionaires from voting Republican?
After all, such voters are obviously foolish and lack money-experience, so they have no business pulling the red lever.

4. In other words, students are not a reliable voting block for Republicans.
They can't get much more mileage at slicing and dicing the electorate. Their social politics of anti-__(fill in the blank)__ is getting them smaller and smaller dividends. No surprise, when you think about. Being anti-women, anti-education, anti-minorities, anti-gay, anti-progressive, anti-education, anti-unions means you're left with a small pool of anti-socialist rubes for your base. Only thing left is to stop the other side from voting.

Expect more efforts by Republicans focused on limiting our rights to vote them out of office.

9. I live in the same district as Liberty University
(Jerry Falwell's legacy) and I for on would love for them NOT to be voting in my district.

College students are here for a short period of time, and they can vote via absentee ballot. That's what I would prefer.

11. Hey, they're not so liberal they can't be put into debt.
Amazing the kind of thinking that conservatives have. They are really starting to show their true agenda. And any rational, sane, thinking and feeling human being can only have one immediate response... WTF!?! Followed by... Like hell you are!!

14. I for one think that college students should vote in their home districts
I like in a county that has a student population of 25 to 30% of the permanent residents. This totally skews all kinds of issues. They vote on bond issues and other things that they will neither benefit from or pay.

It doesn't matter if they are liberal or conservative- they should vote at home.
