England 'healthier than the US'
People living in England enjoy better health than Americans, despite less investment in healthcare, research published in the US has revealed.

Across all ages, US residents tend to fare worse in terms of diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease markers, data on over 100,000 people show.

The reason remains a mystery, says the US team, and challenges the idea that resources necessarily improve health.

It may be due to the UK's bigger drive on health prevention, they say.

Can you say NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE aka SOCIALISED HEATHCARE .

10. As compared to American burger'n'fried foodfare???
They eat more varied types of food, more veggies, they have a national health care system that doesn't cost a dime so you can go to the doctor when you're healthy for check-ups not just when you're sick, and, as you pointed out, they walk more..

3. Could it be that we have 15% with no insurance plus 70% under insured? NAW...
As I recall, 50-some million in US have no insurance out of our 310-million, 80% of those insured have a pay-up-front for basics first as health insurance so that they put off basic care until they can combine it into a calendar year.

Could that be a reason Canada slips past US in terms of longevity?

Could that be a reason England is called healthier?

Ah, come on.

Do I need a sarcasm thingy?

6. Add to that the STRESS
of never being able to 'afford' to be sick, avoiding preventive care, and having to delay procedures.

STRESS causes and exacerbates disease.

Yet this is never factored in to the equation.

5. Murdoch media spread propaganda to stop US from getting national health care
I recall how all of Murdoch's media had disseminated hundreds of scare stories about the NHS to scare Americans away from 'socialised medicine'.
