NPR affiliates are filling the air with pledge drives.
Please donate to your local station. Yes, yes, I know, the quality of the national news programs on NPR have gone downhill, but the national programs are only part of what your local station offers.
I donate because I value much of the local programming. We have some superb local programming, shows like Global Journalist, Views of the News, and Harvest Public Media. I enjoy the lineup of classical music, jazz, and Saturday's broadcast of AOR format rock. Not to mention Prairie Home Companion, This American Life, and Bob Edwards Weekend, among others.
And frankly, I find that even NPR's news shows are the most objective news programs out there, barring MSNBC's prime time lineup.
So if you can, donate. They need the money now more than ever, as NPR is looking down the barrel of complete defunding by our current conservative Congress.
Thanks.

1. I will...here in darkest Mississippi, NPR is the one beacon of sanity |

I have been a long-time supporter of NPR, and if it's defunded, maybe that would be for the best. I pay $21 a month for NetFlix. I'd happily pay that much to NPR, if need be. :hi:

2. Sounds like we need something like 'Radio Free Europe' |
|
except it would be 'Radio Free America'.
:wtf: is the reason that we have to pay for something which should be ours - free airwaves. Now the government owns the air, too. I'm losing my fracken mind with all this bullshit.
