Does anyone else have a Ford Windstar affected by the recalls?
Edited on Wed Mar-09-11 02:18 PM by FedUpWithIt All
In November we took our 2001 Ford Windstar into the dealer for an inspection on it's rear axle due to a recall that Ford was doing. The timing was perfect because our rear axle was about to give and was currently being held together by a weld until we could afford the repair.

Anyhow, we failed the inspection and Ford kept the vehicle until the parts were expected to become available. They offered to put us into a rental car but i asked them to put us in a van due to the size of my family and our need for the extra space. They did, with no issue, and assumed the additional cost and the increased insurance. Well, we are still in that rental and i recently was informed that we would be contacted about a buy back offer.

Apparently, the Ford Windstar model from about 1998-2003 or so are rusting EVERYWHERE. There is now an inspection on the front sub frame (which ours also failed)and something about an underbody shield which affects steering.

A quick read online says that Ford claims to be offering 150% on BB value for excellent condition but the numbers aren't really matching up to that claim.

Is anyone else in a rental over all of this? Have you been offered a buy back?

I guess Ford is also in the midst of a couple of recalls over their F150s too.
