Anyone Else Getting IRS Code 1201........Seems Like... |
|
Edited on Wed Mar-09-11 03:00 PM by rsmith6621
.....a very high number of people who requested direct deposit this year are being plagued by this error code and the IRS seems to not know what the code means except to tell callers that it could cause a 45 day delay in funds being deposited in to bank accounts....This code is shown in the Wheres My Refund page on the IRS website.

1. that's why I'm a firm believer in "Send me the check" |
|
It doesn't bother me to have to wait a few extra days.

3. I used direct deposit for my refund and it worked just fine. |
|
Had my refund about 10 days after I e-filed.
Granted, this is just one datum point.

7 days after I filed on Turbo Tax. Federal and State were deposited the same day.

5. I don't know about that, but instead of direct-depositing my refund, they sent a check. |
|
Got hit with a $10.00 reprocessing fee because they initially sent as a physical check to the bank Turbo Tax uses, and apparently by law, they had to process and issue me a check for my refund instead of direct depositing it. There was also an issue with last year's "making work pay" information; the IRS wouldn't accept an electronic filing from Turbotax because of it, and I had to spend a couple hours with the IRS going over last year's returns to find out what my status was to them was before I could re-submit. When I talked to the nice IRS lady in Texas, she informed me that IRS also has certain days they send returns back on, if you don't make the submittal deadline, or if they have to physically check or reconcile your filing because of issues, you have to wait another month or so. Oh, and some IRS submissions that have unusual paperwork associated with them (Injured Spouse, unusual earnings or deductions) are outsourced and some are processed by the IRS proper here in the US, but she didn't know what the trigger was for outsourcing. We had an issue with a erroneous processor code entry on an outsourced tax filing back in 2006, and every year, it still comes back to haunt us...
