It’s time. We’ve gathered thousands upon thousands of signatures for our Crime Shouldn’t Pay petition that calls on the 50 state Attorneys General to only agree to a strong settlement against the big bankers.

If we can get enough people in all 50 States to join together, MAYBE we can get sme action!

1. So what exactly is the crime?
I looked through the linked website and I couldn't find any actual crimes listed.

The closest thing is "The nation’s 50 state Attorneys General are currently investigating the fraudulent mortgage practices of the big banks."

I still don't understand how the bank risking their money on a loan that turned out to be bad is a crime. No one would have shed a tear or blinked an eye if all these banks had gone out of business over their dumbass actions. From my perspective, the criminals are the congressional tools who threw taxpayer money at the banks without establishing need or merit. THEY deserve to be in jail.

2. Fraudulently listing junk mortgages as "AAA" bonds and selling to our retirement funds is a crime
Manufacturing Billions of $ of those "AAA" bonds out of millions of $ of the junk is a crime.

3. Except that the banks don't issue the ratings.
Those ratings are issued by an independent credit rating agency.

6. Are you serious?
Read Matt Taibbi's Griftopia. Or if you can't be bothered, go see his latest column in Rolling Stone, it's online.

Anyone who thinks that the Banks didn't do anything illegal has no idea what really happened. Read Taibbi, he'll fill you in.
