A strange mind set

I had occasion to visit a senior citizen this week, spending 2 days & nights. The person is 77 years old, and relies completely on SS, Medicare, and his late wife's teachers' pension to keep from starving. Over the last 18 months he has received Medical procedures that would have cost roughly half a million dollars out-of-pocket (he would be unable to get private insurance due to his health insurance). Yet he laps up everything he sees on Fox News.

I am ready to declare that Fox News is a mental illness. Until it is off the air, this country has zero chance of recovering.

Do you have any insights as to WHY? Does it have to do with race, education, religion, part of the country? You indicated his age and gender. What about other factors?

I would not have been able to resist commenting on how so many lazy bums rely on gubmint programs. "But you're not like them," I'd say, "No, you earned it. Still they should get rid of those socialist programs. I'm sure you'd be happy to make the sacrifice to get all those lazy folks back to work. You're my kinda guy!"

6. He twice switched to Fox while I was there

after sitting through 10 minutes the second time, I said, "please turn on something else. You can listen to that shit after I'm gone. It's pretty messed up that someone who lives entirely on SS, Medicare, and a teacher pension can watch this".
