The WI bill is illegal, it did have a fiscal impact |
|
http://twitter.com/#!/markosmarkos Markos Moulitsas RT @ddayen: on page 12 of the non-fiscal bill the Senate passed, there's a supplemental funding reduction http://bit.ly/i8QC59 #wiunion

So, what happens now? They break the law all the time, war crimes, Wall St. crimes, nothing happens. So, are they going to get away with this also?

16. My comment wasn't directed at you. Sorry you took it that way. |
|
It was generic, stating the facts and wondering what happens now.

4. So they'd just pass it again tomorrow probably... |
|
I mean, if this is the path they've chose they will make sure it's legal.

10. Except it isn't. That very fact needs to be alerted to the Wisconsin Assembly |
|
and have Democratic party demand it be removed because if it's in there, it's a violation of Wisconsin law.
Hopefully the Dems will demand that the fiscal provision remain there and demand a full Senate to pass it - they won't get one.

...it has not gone to the assembly yet. It is not law yet. If there is something in the Senate version that would void it later, the Republican Senators can just redo it in the morning before sending it on to the Assembly.
So long as the Wisconsin 14 are away, there will be no debate and Republican Senators can just ram it through in 20 minutes again before sending it on.
If, and this is a big IF, there is something flawed in the bill, then wouldn't it be better to let it pass as is and void it later?

15. So they're going to recovene the meeting without letting the Dems know |
|
That's another violation of the open meetings law. There's a subsection that requires that a 12 hour notice after the first meeting ends if they want to call the same meeting....
And so far they haven't.

I am not sure the bill is flawed. Because some people say it is, doesn't mean it is.
Either way, at this point, it doesn't much matter. The Dems are coming home and the Republicans have shown their hand. They are using the nuclear option whether the Wisconsin 14 are present or not. If they pass a flawed bill and Walker signs it, then we might have something. Until then, it is clear how they intend to proceed.

11. That's what this tweet from lawscribe just said: |
|
lawscribe lawscribe by jazgar Dem Sens should not come back. Why? If GOP knows it was a BS vote, they'll pull it in Assembly and toss up the budget bill again. #wiunion 5 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply
