Inside they know he should, but they also know that he won't. So they're twisting and turning trying to come up with reasons why he shouldn't just to justify it politically.

1. Not at all. I do not think he should go.
It will dilute the anger of the voters.

4. I agree. This is a workers' uprising.
We don't need someone trying to figure out which way the throngs are moving so he can pretend to be out in front of them.

17. Right. Not only would he have no material effect on the issue,
...but the people who are calling for him to go would turn on a dime and say he's bigfooting the Wisconsin Dems and trying to take all the credit.

8. The People of Wisconsin are winning the argument without Obama
If he comes, this wont be about them, it will be all about Obama. There isnt anything he can actually do to change the law, he has no authority and its a badger of honor for Republicans to go against him.

9. If he actually was a fighting, pro-working class president I'd support it.
But what's he gonna do? Go there and talk bipartisanship? I can't see why he'd want to go to Wisconsin or why anyone there would want him there. From what I hear, he's powerless to do anything good for anyone and all he can do is cave in and make concessions so he can get re-elected which, at best, will stop the slide into fascism. Hell, they have far more power and authority than he does.

12. I don't care about what's good or bad for him I only care about what's good for the movement.
And Obama being there would not be good for the movement.

23. Exactly!
As a matter of fact, the president of the SEIU thinks he has done exactly the right thing, and she is thanking him! But what would she know??? She probably hasn't had time to read DU the past couple of weeks to find out what she should really believe.

24. Wow. You must have learned 13-dimensional chess from the Master!
Like, the people who say they DON'T want Obama to go to Wisconsin really DO want him to go to Wisconsin, only he isn't going to go anyway, which makes them all disappointed so they have to pretend that they DON'T want him to go, but you are apparently of the opinion that they should WANT him go to Wisconsin, yet at the same time you seem to think that he WON'T go to Wisconsin, but on the other hand they are wrong to not WANT him to do what he's not going to do anyway.

By George, I think I've got it! What's my prize?
