Does anyone plan to go to Madison?
Edited on Wed Mar-09-11 11:04 PM by CoffeeCat
I am in Iowa, and am five hours away. I would really like to go, even for one day.

Are others planning on going?

I think it's important to go. The cause is incredibly critical--unions are essential and we know
they want to bust the unions in order to destroy the organizational and fund-raising power of
unions in national elections.

However, there is another reason to go to Madison. The bastards who have stolen our democracy
have been incredibly stealth about this heist. They quietly have taken away our freedoms.
The corporations have bought off our politicians--in an iterative fashion. Small steps. No big
splashes, until recently. Obviously, this has been by design.

Rarely do we find a situation like Madison--where this rampant corporatism is so obvious and on such
a grand scale--and also with a geographic epicenter--one place where everything is happening.

Madison is that epicenter. I don't know when an opportunity to protest peacefully in one
place--and stand in solidarity against the Fascism that has taken over--will arise again.

I think anyone who can go, and has the means--seriously should head to Madison. I'm most likely
going and I hope an avalanche of "We The People" descends on Madison and shows those thugs that
democracy is about the people--not about the Koch Brothers.

This is a rare opportunity.

1. I just got home from there.
I was at UW getting ACLU legal observer training but have been to protests and will be back in official and non-official capacity. I would encourage any and everyone who can to get there. It's a magical vibe that will empower you in amazing ways.

2. I'm seriously thinking about it... It's 15 hours from me and
I really can't afford it. But I really can't afford not to either ya know?

We'll see, if the wife gives me the OK I may just jump in the car load up the tunes and do it. Take my oldest son with me...

3. I'm in blue California and have been mulling it over for the past two weeks.
I did not drop everything and go to Florida in November 2000, to my everlasting shame. I am again faced with the same dilemma, to drop everything to go to Wisconsin to fight the fascists.

I'll let everyone know what and when I decide.

13. Kedzie won with 75%.
I don't even think there are efforts to try to get him out. I've been helping with the recall8 efforts and did tonight's legal observer training so I will be attending local more events.

16. Well, if he's not one of the 8, then he's not eligible yet. We still have time!
We're coming for your seat, Kedzie!!

8. Going to Madison this weekend.
I'm sure we'll have a great crowd. The farmers are planning a tractor rally.I hope Willie shows up. We need all big names we can get. Like maybe Obama. I am so disgusted with the tyranny delivered by the Madison repukes I can't find words to express myself. I can't think of anyone that has the smarts to lead us through this, but our collective wisdom will be our salvation. Being this is Ash Wednesday, I went to church twice today and prayed about this situation. Then I found out about what happened. I hope non-violence will work. I'm sure God is a democrat.

15. I'm looking for a ride from Omaha 8 hours away

I've got calls in to the AFL-CIO etc. I have a lead on a room in Madison for Friday-Saturday nights. I just got my immobilizer off today, so I can't drive.
