Anyone hear Lawrence O'Donnell answer to Willie Geist on Morning Junk today? |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-14-10 09:11 AM by whathehell
Geist asked if the stated objections of Senators like Weiner were "political theatre"....Effing O'Donnell answered "a lot of them"....I would bet that Weiner, whom I like and respect, would beg to differ.
O'Donnell "guests" on that show frequently....Keith and Rachel?...Not so much. In fact I don't remember Keith EVER being on the show..Perhaps it's attitudes like the one expressed today that get him re-invited. Sanctimonious, enabling jerk.

1. A couple of things . . . . |
|
Weiner is a Rep, not a Senator.
Like you, I believe he is sincere. I also believe, however, that a great deal of what you see out of Washington *is* political theater - on both sides. I also believe that NO ONE in DC is immune to a few performances of political theater

2. He might have been talking about past performance of House Members .. |

The a.m. brain doesn't always work perfectly...
That being said, We can all "believe" what we want regarding political theater..but Geist included Weiner, even if he didn't limit it to him and, all things considered,
I'd say it was a bad time (and place) for O'Donnell to state opinions regarding real or imagined theatre...A better (and probably more honest) response would have been "I don't know".

3. O'Donnell was the only one on there this morning to |

lay into that Virg. Governor and made a fool of him...so you're being a bit nit-picking with the "political theater" remark...people already think most of Washington is for show - so he wasn't making news...but telling the Governor that the "mandate" is a mirage - that it really isn't there, since there is no penelty in the bill - showed them for the fools they are, because they didn't even know what was in the bill - they are sueing for something that really has no teeth...

I give credit where I see it, but I reserve the right to "nit pick" if I choose, especially since one person's "nit pick" is often someone else's legitimate complaint.
This isn't the only time he's done something obnoxious on the air or in print...and there's plenty of other DUers who feel the same way.

Sounds just about right.
Just curious...What did Rachel challenge him about?..I'd have loved to have seen it!
