Gasoline cost to jump $700 for average household
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/03/09/us-usa-gasoline-price-idUSTRE7286IO20110309

"Reuters) - U.S. drivers will pay another 10 cents a gallon for gasoline before the latest jump in wholesale costs is fully passed on at the pump, and yearly motor fuel costs will rise 28 percent from last year, the Energy Department said on Wednesday.

The average U.S. household will spend about $700 more for gasoline in 2011 than it spent last year, bringing total motor fuel expenses up 28 percent to $3,235, based on an annual pump price of $3.61 a gallon, the department's Energy Information Administration said.

Retail gasoline prices soared by 38 cents over the last three weeks to $3.52 per gallon, according to the EIA, because of high crude oil costs due to unrest in the Middle East..........."

The price here in Sweden is over $8 dollars US a gallon for petrol (I do not drive, so I avoid this to a point).
Also some of that high price in dollars is due to the plummeting value of your money versus ours, so to a Swede, in purchasing parity price, we pay around $6 to 6.50 gallon.

3. Good, add a tax that goes to research on top of it
Yeah it hurts. That's the only way to get people to seriously demand an alternative (and quit voting the asshole's in who keep big oil happy). It's kind of like when you don't pay for the fire protection and your house burns down, you have a much greater chance of learning from the experience.

4. I strongly suggest everyone wor on forming car pools, the
samae a they do during a public ransit strike. I'm retired now, but I used to do that when I lived i Pgh. It works out well for everyone. Even if you have odd hours, you can sually wok something out, maybe with two differn't pools.

The really frightening part of thisis what it will do the the cost of everything else...food, clothing, airfare, ...just everything that is delivered via truck. Hard as I try, I can' think of anything that's NOT delivered that way.
