Stephen King speaks at Florida protest....says tax him more.
There is a great video here...amazing. Good for Stephen King and for Florida protesters.

Stephen King.. 'Maybe My Next Horror Novel Could Star Rick Scott'

On Tuesday evening, more than 200 protestors gathered at Sarasota's bayfront at the Unconditional Surrender statue as part of a statewide "Awake the State" rally.

Today, 33 rallies were held across the Sunshine state, but Sarasota was the only place where best-selling author, and Sarasota area resident, Stephen King showed up to speak.

"You might say 'hey what are you doing up there, aren't you rich?'" King said. "The answer is, 'thank God, yes' ... And you know what, as a rich person I pay 28 percent tax. What I want to ask you is why am I not paying 50 percent. Why is everybody in my bracket not paying 50?"

King's speech was the climax of an hour-long protest where people lined the bayfront with signs saying "defend education" and "adjust it don't bust it."

Awesome. What a rally.

3. Met Steve at a Democratic State convention...we caucused for Gary Hart
He was there with his wife Tabitha (wearing a cool embroidered 'Christine' jacket). The caucus was in a school and he sat next to me. Had a great chat with him. He had a Democratic fundraiser in his home that year and we went to that...got a chance to see his office. Had a Wang word processor - I've never seen so many reams of printouts/manuscripts in my life. The man is a word machine.

Funny story: The day of the fundraiser, I split my middle finger open on a table saw (not powered up, the wrench slipped and my finger powered into the blade). Got it stitched and bandaged. At his house, I had to hold it up to keep the pain from throbbing. He thought it was pretty seeing me walking around giving everyone the finger.

There are a lot of well off people like Stephen who understand a great society needs a fair and equitable tax system. He probably also understands that he can't sell books when people barely have enough money to buy bread and heating oil.
