7. It was illegal
It won't stand. And just as in Egypt, as long as we stay peaceful, we win. One thing that does need to be happening right this very minute is that the finishing touches on the stellar speech that Obama will be giving in Madison today are just about done, I'd say. If he chooses to stay in DC to do his speech, well, he might do okay, but if he goes to Madison and aligns himself with workers, not only will it be a moral victory and a huge boost to his popularity, but it will also bring him back to the possibility of being a two term President, something he seems to have forgotten lately along with so many campaign promises. But sometimes it's the small promises that can bring back all credibility.

He said he would be there with his comfy shoes on. I hold few illusions about the man I fought to get into the White House but just this once, I want to be right and I want to see him step into the Madison Statehouse and make this a national dialogue.

16. And soon that will be the right thing to do
As Jackpine Radical put it, why get in the way of an idiot while he's busy destroying himself. It would be impolite. Today is Thursday. Today will see the biggest protest Madison has ever seen. Will it change anything. Don't know, but we'll have a pretty good picture by Friday and the weekend is going to be wall to wall people and the unions will be meeting throughout the weekend and walk out on Monday is very, very likely, with or without union approval.

4. I know you're angry
but they are handling it really well right now. They have refused to leave the capitol overnight and all different unions are organizing overnight to get people to Madison in the morning. The unions won't have to shut anything down, the protesters in the streets will bring Madison to a full stop. As long as they stay peaceful this is already won by the workers. We need to keep it peaceful. If nothing has changed by Monday, I'd say it's time to call a General Strike. But, just as one shouldn't discipline their child when angry, we need to wait to discipline the toddler, Snottie Walker until we have clear heads.

His career is over. I know you may not realize it in your anger but it's a fact. Either he was too stupid to realize how this was going to play out or he has a puppetmaster who sacrificed him for the cause. Either way, this man's career in politics is over. He will be recalled (I know, one year. Sometimes justice is just too damn slow). And the coup de grace is that they didn't provide 24 hour open meeting notice so what happened tonight wasn't just reprehensible, it was illegal.

Remember--When your enemy is busy destroying himself, it's impolite to interrupt.

11. I think it actually comes from Napoleon.
Others say it's from Sun Tzu's Art of War.

6. Energy needs to go to complete the recall signature collections
The Capitol building needs to be full of CITIZENS today, it's an open day for the business of the Assembly.
The Assembly representatives should be made to feel the will of their constituents.

At the same time, today we go into full court press to capture the energy of Wisconsin's disgust in the recall signature drives. There is opportunity in this moment for progress.

PROGRESS is ours to make. On Wisconsin!

10. Buses coming from all over the state
The Capitol is going to have well over 100,000 people, probably more. I don't know how many can stand side by side with little breathing room.

13. Give every one of them the proper signature petitions and send them all over the state!

Rallies shouting "hooray for our side" are great, but now it's time to put this energy to good use.

18. I agree but they're prepared to call a "State Emergency" and fire everyone

March 9, 2011, Page 16:

3. Discharge of State Employees
Provide that, during a state of emergency declared by the Governor under the state of emergency management law, an appointing authority may discharge any employee who does any of the following: a) fails to report to work as scheduled for any three days during the state of emergency and the employee's absences from work are not approved leaves of absence; or b) participates in a strike, work stoppage, sit-down, stay-in, slowdown, or other concerted activities to interrupt the operations or services of state government, including specifically participation in purported mass resignations or sick calls. Provide that engaging in any of these activities constitutes just cause for discharge.

-snip-

Under current law, the Governor may issue an executive order declaring a state of emergency for the state or any portion of the state if he or she determines that an emergency resulting from a disaster or imminent threat of disaster exists. Generally, a disaster is a severe or prolonged, natural or human-caused, occurrence that threatens or negatively impacts life, health, property, infrastructure, the environment, the security of this state or a portion of this state, or its critical systems.

19. A Strike would give Walker the chance
to fire state employees and privatize the heck out of everything. We saw him fire the unionized guards when he was on the country board (and how well that worked out for the County).

20. It's a nice fantasy, but it's not going to happen. This is not Europe and workers are not united.
Take a few deep breaths and deal with reality as it exists. The vast majority of workers are not going to risk what they have shut down the state. It's not going to happen, but it does make for a nice fantasy.
