Obama says bullying needn't be part of growing up
Right now, being bullied by the GOP is part of BEING grown up.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110310/ap_on_re_us/us_obama_bullying

– Thu Mar 10, 3:03 am ET

WASHINGTON – The topic of bullying is getting attention from the highest levels of the White House.

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are headlining a conference Thursday on preventing bullying. Students, parents and teachers have been invited to discuss their experiences with bullying as well as what schools and communities are doing to stop it.

In a Facebook video promoting the conference, Obama says bullying is not an unavoidable part of growing up.

He says the country is seeing the harmful effects of this type of harassment as more students report it. In some instances, young people are said to have committed suicide to escape being bullied.

A mother of two, Mrs. Obama says it's everyone's responsibility to make sure kids treat each other with respect.

4. Does this include lessons on preventing "hostage taking" too?
This is beyond ironic.

It's downright depressing.

8. You think the topic is funny? That's sick. If you actually took even a minute to think
you'd realize that kids are CONDITIONED to accept bullying.

A big part of the problem with society right now is people are conditioned to accept the republicans constant assaults.

3. Yes, let's turn a very important issue
into a joke.

Walker is attacking his own people and facing a recall. Surely this is good for Walker and bad news for the President. Oh brother.

5. Yes, you can be like him and live with your head in the sand, compromising
... and 'working for bi partisanship' while the bully steals everything your friends have AND kicks sand in your face in public at the same time!!

+1...
Maybe those laughing the loudest were the bullies and not the bullied.

7. Priorities.
What the hell is Pres. Obama doing?

Khaddafi "bullies" his own people --- we're thinking about what to do.

Rep. King "bullies" Muslim America --- the White House appreciates the hearings.

Wisconsin Repuglicans "bully" organized labor and state Democrats --- Obama is silent.

And HE is rendering 'sage' advice about "bullying" to the rest of America?

It looks like bullying in the grown-up world is working out quite well for the bullies!

This is what he has extra time to spend on?

I'm getting so that I simply do not understand the defenders of the President here ... it feels like the country and world is starting to fall apart and the leadership we are seeing is the President 'headlining' a conference on 'bullying'?

17. Source that attributes that opinion to Obama, please?
Oh, that's right, there ISN'T ONE, no matter how often some folks parrot it.

How easily destructive morale-sapping RW memes fly here under the guise of being "lefty."

And K & R for a worthwhile initiative.

13. Why doesn't he come out and talk about all the hate in this country
That is the real problem.....
Hate has been growing in this country for a long time
and then that turns into bullying

President Obama it is too late for just words
this country needs a man of action to back up his words
