On Monday, the stars finally lined up right
and I decided I am heading to Madison tomorrow. My sister lives there and I haven't been to visit her in a while. I am taking my 16 year old daughter (she has Friday and Monday off of school) and my 29 year old niece (who grew up in Madison).
I am unemployed, but I feel very much like I have a dog in this race! It is the working class people who make this country so great. I think a lot of them forgot that when bush and his ilk were busy making everyone afraid and they weren't paying attention. This is a pivotal time, and I hope the momentem keeps up.
I get my news here at DU, and don't watch much MSM (fox is blocked on our tv!), but last night I turned on CNN and my blood pressure went up (luckily I normally have low blood pressure). The bimbo speaking (and sorry, there are no other words to describe her) was asking the guy in the crowd "Are all these people in unions?". I can't imagine someone with a job like that being so removed from reality! They are so blind that they can't seem to understand that the WI repubs. aren't just screwing with unions, it is the first blow they want to make to break the working class. And they are so isolated that they don't understand that when they do that, this country is not so great anymore. When all of the money goes to the top and stays there, things will topple over.
And it is not going to be those people from the top that fix it. They don't even understand what has been making the whole thing work all these years!
SO, I am going with my youngest child and my niece (and we are the people in our family who don't do good at all in cold weather!) and we are going to stand up!

4. I hope we bump in to each other!
I'm 2 hours away, but plan on going saturday with all three of my (grown) kids and some of their friends. I'd be there every day I was not working if the gas prices were a bit lower.

Any way, some advice that I hope is helpful. Layer your clothes (2 pair of pants, or snow pants); wear mittens, they're warmer (I can't wear gloves--fingers get too cold); bring a backpack, or don't carry anything; don't put a stick on your sign; and for goodness sake bring a camera or you will kick yourself all the way home (like me last week--missed some amazing pics).

There's bottled water being sold around the Capital and Pizza (or free slices from Ians). There are also porta-potties.

7. Good to hear about the portapotties! That was one of my
worries!! It is turning spring like here outside of St. Louis, I told my daughter and niece we are going back in time weather wise.
My daughter is a great photographer and luckily she is tall! I am in charge of batteries for the camera!

Funny, when we went to Jeff City 2 weeks ago, an older woman was showing my daughter how to flip off someone while you have a mitten on. But I am not sure if there will be many tea baggers showing up on Sat. (idk, surely they know they are outnumbered?)

6. I so wish I could be there with all of you, but finances and health prevent it. BUT believe me
when I say I am very much there in spirit and I am spreading the word here as much as I can.:grouphug: :yourock:
