DU bird lovers, can you help with the spring count of swifts in your area?
Here's the deal:
Swifts eat tons of mosquitoes and other insects.

Every year people across the country help the Driftwood Wildlife Association count Chimney Swifts and Vaux's Swifts.
The project was originally inspired by John Connors with the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2001 Paul and Georgean Kyle developed the program for the Driftwood Wildlife Association that has become a favorite late summer event for professional and amateur birdwatchers alike.

All you have to do is step outside, estimate closely the number of swifts going to roost at dusk,
and email the count to the Association.
Once in spring ( coming up in April-May ) and in fall. (They email you a reminder of the dates.)
They then track the migration and numbers on a map on their website.

Here is map of 2010 Spring count: My report is one of the towns on the map.
