Living in Luxury in the White House: Maybe our President cannot FIND any comfortable shoes.
Maybe he is unable to fulfill this particular promise he made to us when he was trying to get us to elect him:

"Understand this, if American workers are being denied their right to organize and collectively bargain when I'm in the White House, I'll put on a pair of comfortable shoes myself and I'll walk on that picket line with you as the President of the United States of America because workers deserve to know when someone is standing in their corner."

How much would it cost us to send him some?

Would it propel President Obama to start walking if truckloads of boxes with well worn shoes were to arrive at the White House?
Maybe accompanied by a soap box and a bull horn!

My frustration and disappointment at our being left to flounder alone in the Milwaukee winds and my feeling abandoned has no bounds.

How long can a game of chess last?

2. It's a 12-dimensional game of chess, and one of those dimensions is time itself...
So theoretically, this game COULD last forever - or at least until a frustrated, disappointed, and helpless electorate gives up and allows a Repub to take the WH in 2012.

13. If the electorate is "frustrated, disappointed" with a DEM Pres. inaction
and the Repub. are the bad guys.......What does that say about the current system?

16. The Repubs are the "bad guys," but if the Dem leadership just
allows and facilitates their malfeasance and only seems to make pantomime and/or impotent efforts to curtail it, then frankly, they're almost as complicit in being "bad guys." Thus, the disappointment, esp. when the lead "good guy" in charge led such a great campaign grounded in promises of fighting the "bad guys."

Basically, to answer your question, the current system is a big piece of shit.

11. Sounds like you are saying it is all Obama's fault
Rather than Walker, Koch, Karl Rove Crossroads GPS, the Republican Governors, the Republican Politicians

I am not in Milwaukee though,

17. If it sounds like that, please read it again. I want Obama to
keep his promises and show himself as trustworthy so we can believe his words when he campaigns the next time.

I also do not want his opinions and support to be missing in action when we have to deal with playing the hand that

"Walker, Koch, Karl Rove Crossroads GPS, the Republican Governors, the Republican Politicians"

have dealt to the people of
Milwaukee.

19. No, what you really want is to sow more discontent amongst the Left. The Left are suckers for this
crap.

12. I think you touch on something that is really overlooked namely the effect
Edited on Thu Mar-10-11 11:53 AM by snagglepuss
of living in luxury and mingling with the rich and powerful who to members of their class are extremely gracious and charming. The more one is exposed to the lifestyle and personalities of the rich and famous and indeed becomes one of them, the more unappealing the unrich appear to be.

24. Yeah, that's just what we need--hundreds of Secret Service agents crawling all over the Capitol
in Madison.

This is a completely absurd and misguided claim. I don't give a shit what he said in 2007--he wasn't President then and surrounded by 20 people when he goes to the bathroom.

Even if I didn't think his presence in Wisconsin would give Republicans ammo they don't have now, his protection would completely obliterate any meaningful protests.

And you're being willfully obtuse by holding him to this.

25. Literal is unnecessary - a solidly supportive speech from that bathroom you mention
where he takes a stand and assumes leadership and keeps himself credible- in comfortable slippers even - that could be a fine way to keep that promise.

Forget the Slogans, Rhetoric, and Empty Promises.
