I'm not a mental giant.
So if I can figure out that:

Corporations counting digital votes
Corporate tax breaks
Union busting
Oil speculation
Defunding education
Defunding other public services for the disadvantaged
Discrediting ACORN, planned parenthood, NPR, etc.
Defunding some of the above, etc.
Oh the list just goes on and on and on....

...is class war (death knell of democracy) and designed to keep me under the boot heel of the extremely well-heeled, why can't more people see this for what it is? I cannot get over the number of people I run across in person and on-line who honestly think their peers are a greater danger to them then those with money and power currently stripping them of their standard of living and their rights.

It's not about abortion, guns, God, states' rights, small government, gays or Muslims.

Those few who have the most aren't content, they want it all. It doesn't really seem that hard to figure out. Or am I just delusional?

2. It's about implementing libertarianism
using the most sleazy of tactics.

And believe me, they have had think tank sessions about all the ways in which the affected are going to react, and have developed responses.

4. I guess what I don't understand most of all are the local GOP politicians.
The ones I know (and granted that's limited to about ten) are average middle class folk like me. They aren't uber-rich, but they are so willing to become their minions. How are people who are supposed to be aware of what is going on in order to do their jobs able to reconcile destroying their own lives to advance an agenda that benefits others?

11. I know three highly intelligent Pubbies...
Who for some reason are decent people most of the time until they get some GOTP meme stuck in their craw, then they are ugly, greedy, and downright evil and it scares the hell out of me. The are upper middle class millionaires... which doens't amount to a hill of beans when you are up against greedy multi-billionaires. They carry the water, but I know they will be lost in the dust along with the rest of us because there simply isn't enough room at the top. All water carriers will be left in the dust. Only those who have others carry their water will survive.

between them and the billionaires. I think they're gonna be surprised, and not in a good way.

7. But what is their End Game?
What happens when they've bled us dry and we have nothing left to give? Where will they continue to amass their wealth? This path is unsustainable and I wonder if they've thought ahead far enough to see that.

17. Ah, no. I think the President giving a lecture on a subject that he seems
wholly impotent on is monumentally ironic and laughable.
And by trying to change it and attack me, so are you, btw.

16. I actually agonized over using the term "class war." I don't like it.
It's economic oppression plain and simple. Uber-rich/corporation v. everyone else.

If you think I have contempt for the poor you clearly know absolutely nothing about me.

20. Please do NOT put words in my mouth. I never said the word "contempt".. that is YOUR word.
I would hope that you could understand and empathize with what it feels like to be constantly ignored and left out.

The day will come when you middleclass people will need and want the support of poor people.

When that day arrives, please remember that I was here, trying to let you know that its important to include others.

21. I apologize. That was the tone I picked up from your response to me.
and it was unfair of me to do that.

I actually didn't realize I was excluding the poor when positioning the uber-wealthy against everyone else. I would think the poor and marginalized qualify for the latter and their inclusion would be understood. I draw a distinction between corporate interests and the people, not between a so-called middle class and the impoverished. I was surprised by your response as my OP never drew a distinction between more than two "classes." Again, I hate that term but I'm not quite sure what else to use. Suggestions?

23. Thank you. I appreciate that.
Please remember... I have been beating the Poverty Drum here for a long time, and Sapphire Blue before me. We are mostly ignored, and marginalized. She got frustrated and angry, and so have I. If you are willing to put yourself in my shoes (and hers before me), I think you can understand that, and that understanding is what will lead to something more resembling "solidarity".

I was very sick, in my car and in the freezing cold, when the wisconsin thing broke, and when I was awake enough to understand it, it was like I had been hit in the face. Here are the HUGE budget cuts coming that will mean DEATH to many people, and I knew all of that would be totally wiped off the map with this.... because all the attention is on "the middleclass".

Again, I ask you to put on my shoes for a moment, and feel what that is like.

Can you feel the waves of dispair?

Now, multiply that by the millions who are in the same situation as me..... desperate, completely on the edge, and falling off....

AND. IGNORED.

Do you know what that translates into?

SUICIDES. QUIET SUICIDES.

I hear so many complaints here about the corporate media not covering the protests... do you think they are "covering" the suicides of impoverished and desperate people?

What about the "progressive" media? What are Hartmann, Rachel, Amy, and of course, Schultz talking about? THE. MIDDLE. CLASS.

I can't stand to listen anymore, because I am a person of no account, and there are so many others who are also IGNORED.

Can you begin to grasp the pain?

The far right wing has used abortion, guns, God, states' rights, small government, gays and Muslims to ramp up enthusiasm for their side.
