Where Do I Begin...? (RANT) |
|
Where do I begin? Where does it end? Apparently there is no beginning or any end in sight.
Does the average American have the slightest understanding of what is happening in our country right now? Apparently not. The streets are empty, the banner of justice and fair play has been folded and stored and have been gathering dust since 1979.
I'm watching CSPAN (House) and their debate over a bill to stop FHA assistance to those who are underwater with regard to their mortgages. I keep asking myself WHY the Republicans would want to stop assistance to those who need it most. And then it comes to me...Government is BAD. Programs to assist those in trouble are equal to Socialism...
Our schools are going down quick. Soon they will all be owned by private enterprise with their own agendas. Because anything resembling a public school system is a Communist plot!
The very people that put us in our financial situation are rewarded with bailout (no strings attached). The VERY PEOPLE that screwed us are doing just fine, thank you. What is wrong with this country?
And now, in Wisconsin, we see the basic rights of workers being tossed on the ash heap of history...right before our eyes. The rights of redress are vanishing and the American people feel helpless to stop it.
These are BASIC and FUNDAMENTAL tenets of our country and they are being taken from us while we (me included) sit at our keyboards and think we are making some sort of difference.
What is wrong? What do we need to stop this madness?
LEADERSHIP.
Do you hear me Mr. Obama. Are you really a Democrat. Aren't most of these issues ones that strike at the heart of what it means to be a Democrat?
Where are you?
I'm sorry. I want so badly to support my President. I'm finding it more and more difficult to do so.

I want to support the President and the Democratic Party, but should they not want to support me as well?

4. This is why I want to do away with unrecommend. How does anyone... |
|
.....know how many people voted unrec., and rec. Do you just sit there and monitor it? Isn't that going to be part of the new DU? : the unrec. gone. I think it would discourage the freepers from coming here and disrupting the concensus of the legitimate members of DU.

That you point out the obvious, republicans are trying to do all these terrible things, they you go on to blame it all on president Obama! The president does not make laws, congress does, the president can not force republicans to be human or for teabaggers to actually use their brains for a change instead of letting big corporations pull their strings!
We have a mess all over the country because millions of democrats sat home and didn't vote in the 2010 election because they are "upset" that all of "their" pet projects were addressed by the president. It didn't matter if he got more done in his first two years that any president in decades. It didn't matter he was left the biggest mess in history by Bush and the republicans. Nope, all they care about was sending a message they were not happy, so they didn't vote! Well look at what that got us! New republican governors, control of state government, and republicans trying to take down everything they can in order to keep the country in a mess so they can try and blame it all on Obama in 2012! Their lies and BS worked for them in 2010, and their paid minions did their job trolling around the internet telling democrats and liberals to stay home and NOT VOTE, and sadly they did a great job of conning those who did stay home and not vote!
If you want to blame someone for the mess we are in now, blame those who sat on their ass and didn't bother to vote! By doing so they gave away state governments, they allowed republicans to take over he House and put Boehner in charge. So why not go after the republicans, rally the democrats and vote those who are "REALLY" causing the problem out of office the next election, or recall those we can now who are doing the dirty work of their corporate masters!

...with blaming those that sat on their ass.
But there is plenty of blame to go around.
The POTUS is the "leader of the free world.' He is often called the most powerful man on the planet.
Couldn't he just take a small slice of that power and FIGHT for those that put him in office? I know who makes the laws... But President Obama has a HUGE platform. It is called the bully pulpit....which he has failed to use in any effective manner. I want him to STAND UP and FIGHT. Speak to the American people...they are begging for LEADERSHIP.
Having said all of this...I don't disagree with your point.

11. The thing is, while Obama doesn't make laws, he HAS to be a leader |
|
Look at FDR and his bill of human rights (or w/e it was called) and his fireside chats. So what if Obama can't make laws...how about holding a press conference discussing rabid income inequality, or how the Republicans are immoral with their draconian cuts. All we want is for Obama to call out these mf'ers for what they are and we don't hear it...

18. There's An Old Saying S--T Or Get OFF The Pot! I REALIZE Obama Is ONLY |
|
the POTUS and he needs the Congress to enact laws, HOWEVER he has shown me VERY little LEADERSHIP! I don't want COOL HAND LUKE, I want GIVE 'EM HELL HARRY right now!!! We are getting rolled and shat upon and now I feel so many other countries are wondering what the hell is going on.
I saw Jamie Ruben (from the Clinton Administration) on TV this AM and he's no "leftie" at all, but his exact words were the same... Obama needs to start showing some LEADERSHIP! I so wish he isn't going to be our only choice for 2012... I want someone else, REALLY... I want someone else!

14. No one is BLAMING the President, just wondering why he is not SPEAKING UP! |
|
He needs to take a damned STAND, one side or the other, and advocate for that position. This fence-sitting is bullshit and it is allowing the GOP/Corporations to walk all over this country.
He needs to take a stand.

8. I agree with most of this... except that people are in the streets |
|
you can thank the media for not knowing that. I haven't seen this much action from "the people" since the 60's. And now that they showed how they are going to play, it's only going to get bigger and louder.

16. What is REALLY the end is that middleclass people can't seem to remember poor people. |
|
All the language, all the protests, all the rants.. are about middleclass concerns.
Yet come election time, you expect us to fall in line.
Why is that?

19. TWITTER? Really, Twitter!! USE THE OVAL OFFICE! Speak Up From The WH! |
|
I know too many older people who don't TWITTER or even have a clue about it! I have TWO sisters who are completely PC illiterate and don't even own one! They DO watch TV, and so far they're STILL Democrats, BUT say they are EXTREMELY upset with him! THEY always vote as do their spouses, and for Democrats all the time!
Lose them and see what happens! Senior citizens DO vote more often than not. I come from a family of SIX women, I'm #5 and a Boomer and all but one of us have always supported Democrats and UNIONS!! One sister lives in Texas and is ACTUALLY a fundamentalist Repuke! I love her and get along with her quite well, but we DO NOT talk politics or RELIGION! I was brought up in a strict Catholic/Military family and have long since learned what I DON'T like! I know I'm an agnostic if not an actual atheist, but both of my older sisters are still Catholic... VERY Catholic, but still Democrats who are Pro-Choice and support LGBT rights and DOMA.
Obama should be hearing what THEY are saying! They are his DIE HARD supporters, but for how long I just don't know. And they are to the "right" of me, so I'd say Obama and the Democrats had better get their BUTTS in gear.
