A message from the AFL-CIO.. and my note to the offending Wisc repubs
http://act.aflcio.org/c/18/p/salsa/web/common/public/content?content_item_KEY=2340

Here are all the email addresses for the Republicans in Wisconsin that just stripped collective bargaining rights from every public worker..

I sent them, individually, the following email with a cheery "Thank You!" suject. . the grammer is a bit. . ragged.. but I was pissed

You have alerted all New Yorkers (which I am one) and every single working person in America about the dirty underhanded tactics that Republicans will take to steamroll over their constituents. We were told by Ben Franklin that we had been given “A Republic, Madam, If you can keep it”. It appears that in many states that Republic is, indeed, in some peril.

Are you now preparing to do like Michigan? Will you move to unilaterally dissolve local municipalities? Well you Republicans have certainly gotten America’s attention. How History treats you is very much in balance.

Regards

1. WI has 2.5 million workers, 7% union members in the private sector. How many of those are AFL-CIO
since SEIU, Teamsters, and United Food and Commercial Workers are not in AFL-CIO?

2. That is beside the point
Every worker is affected by the Unions. Prevailing wage is determined by Union scale..Knock off the Unions and every worker in America will see their pay impacted as well as their benefits...Any worker that does not understand this is simply not thinking..

4. IMO it's relevant whether WI's 2 million private sector, non-union members support 175K public
sector union employees.

5. Saturday should give a good indication.. count the tractors arriving at Madison.
When the farmers, who most certainly are not Union, and who Republicans refer to as "The Salt of the Earth" get pissed you know the writing is on the wall. From what I have heard there is going to be a tractor parade miles long..Supporting Public Sector Workers.

6. It goes much further than that
It is a big giant fuck you to ALL labour. What happens when ALL LABOUR refuses to...er...labour? There has been a complete ugly amputation of the value of labour in regards to its role in the economy.

This is a direct broadside attack on the middle class by the monied few. It is a direct attack on the american economy - but they are too insulated to see it because Wall Street and main street are now miles and miles apart. And they see no reason why that would pose any problem at all.
