Does the Media have the balls to do the right thing? King Hearings |
|
60 years ago, with few exceptions, the mass media stood by while a pompous, blowhard in Congress held hearings about a non-existing threat that vilified a broad group of people. To their shame, they did not condemn, or even question this witch hunt. Today we have another camera loving Congressman, who is using his power to stir up the American people against a group that is only observing their religion. Will the media learn from it's inaction and compliance of 60 years ago. I am not holding my breath.

1. It's not a matter of balls. Unfortunately, it's a matter of bucks. |
|
The GOP bought and paid for the media, quite literally. They'll promote what helps their bottom line. Balls (or ovaries or estrogen or testosterone) don't enter into it. Accountants do.

3. Why do we "need" Keith? |
|
I enjoyed his show, but can't you take up a cause and protest against injustice without a celebrity tele-icon to supply positive reinforcement? I miss KO, too...but the people who really needed to hear him were never listening to him in the first place.

4. Well...America had Murrow during the McCarthy era. |

Keith's really one of the only media figures who could even compare.
Of course we don't need an icon to get out and protest, but Keith's speeches were always an inspiration.

about courage and honor to stand-up for something and report with integrity.
However, the mass media is corporately owned, as we all know. It is a filtering, biased megaphone of propaganda for an agenda that is just starting to become obvious to the entire country. Like a beast rising from the fathoms, the disgustingly ugly head has surfaced and emerged.
It is staring us right in the eyes and the mass media turns out to be its many tentacles.
