A question for teachers.
Why can't teachers go home with each of their students and make sure they:

A.Do their home work
B.Have adult supervision
C.Have clean cloths for school
D.Get enough sleep
E.Have somewhat healthy meals
F.Learn about social relationships so they don't bully other children.
G.Have lunch money or some way of having lunch

I know the logistics of this would be a challenge, but according to a caller on the Rush Limbaugh Show today, teachers in the NEA are "THE HIGHEST PAID WORKERS IN AMERICA IN TERMS OF HOURS WORKED EACH YEAR". Surely there's a way teachers could do their jobs and the jobs of the parents (if there are any) too. According to Mr. Limbaugh, an authority on education, 82% of students don't even meet "No child left with a behind" standards. I expect far more from people who must make millions of dollars a month while working only 9 months. Hell, you can have a baby in 9 months!

Maybe someone can esplan this to me?

1. No Child Left Behind was a guarantee of failure.
This is what happens when non-educators make education policy. I teach honors chemistry students who can't do math, many of whom won't do homework PERIOD. But it's my fault! I am tired of being beaten like this. Who in their right mind will want to be a teacher after this?

3. I applaud what you do and appreciate teachers who

like you care about things that really aren't your responsibility. I for one would not want to be a teacher.

I heard Obama say in China and another Asian country teachers are RESPECTED and make as much salary as Engineers. Here they begrudge you a moderate living. :eyes:

Bless your heart.

2. Sure.
What happen is that teaching was traditionally a job that women did for hundreds of years. Rush totally hates woman, so much so that he married again for the 5th time just so he can divorce her and leave her destitute. When in his woman hating mode, Rush is reminded of a teacher he had in junior high that would reprimand him for picking his nose and leaving the remains under the desktop. Rush developed an insecurity and now takes his anger out on teachers...all the while no one had informed him MEN teach now too. If El' Rushbo knew, he would probably move on to nursing or libraries.

4. i don't know either. & it's shocking, shocking i tell you, that the % of schools

that don't meet nclb standards increases every year....

except that nclb is specifically designed to *ensure* that *every* school eventually becomes a "failing" school.

when you require 100% proficiency of all students at any given school, including special ed students, within a specific time frame, you're designing for 1) cheating or 2) 100% failure.

i don't think most people understand that nclb was designed to create "failure" so that this "failure" could be the excuse for complete redesign to better serve the needs of capital.

that our democratic administration didn't overturn that stinking mess first hour in office is shocking.

5. There were so many 'stinking messs' that we
should have just shoved through or down the GOP throat as did bush. He did that without even being elected.

We had the whole ball of wax and a clear madate.

I remember the teacher reaction at my school when the all students must be at 100% proficiency requirement via by year xx--including those with severe learning disabilities.

If not for powerful Gramps & Pops, Rushie would be washing cars somewhere. (Nah, he'd be fired cuz he couldn't keep his yap shut.)

So....before Rushie slings mud at the kids (teachers), let's see if HE could meet NCLB standards.....I seriously doubt it!

On edit:
And, yes, NCLB was designed to undermine the public school system to pave the way for charter schools. The GOP's wetdream.....private control of the schools using the taxpayer dollars!!!! What could be sweeter!??!!
