What do you worry about for our country's future?

I started making a list of things I'm worried about for the future of the country. I thought if I wrote them down I would realize it wasn't so bad. That backfired. So here's what I'm worried about:

- Increased productivity while wages continue to decrease (i.e. all economic gain going to the top)
- Inability to compete globally
- Continued dependence on fossil fuels
- Further decline in the educational system
- Infinite increase in health care costs
- Two class nation via a disappearing middle class
- Increased income inequality
- Extreme weather shifts
- Continued recession from low private sector spending
- Job losses from slashed local/state/federal budgets
- Loss of any counter balance to corporate power
- Advancement of short-term policies for political gain

I realize some of these are inter-related. They were just what immediately came to mind. Anyone have something to add?

I have no problem with grammar police. DU still has a minimum response rule, but perhaps it's lower?

2. Massive federal debt and the ever-increasing interest we'll have to pay

on it...and two political parties who don't seem to want to seriously address the issue or talk to voters about it as if they were grown-ups.

3. Charlie Sheen's lawsuit.

5. Widespread and longer duration of failures in our infrastructure

as we continue to ignore the growing problem of its aging and disrepair.

6. Severe fractures in our international relationships.

Which, well, that's already happened. But I'm worried that we will have just about zero credibility left with our allies after this year.
