What are the chances of Scott Walker being recalled in WI?
Edited on Thu Mar-10-11 08:01 PM by RiverStone
I really can't fathom how Scott Walker won in the first place, unless it was a case of bait and switch. The good news is this exposes exhibit A for how the radical wingnut crowd intends to limit or eliminate personal liberties and workers rights.

With all the protesting in Madison, I have not heard much in the way of buyers remorse from any idiot that voted for him. Maybe they are too ashamed. I am hearing that there is a growing belief that there will be enough signatures to recall this fascist prick next January.

For those on the streets in Wisconsin, what are the odds of that happening?

On Edit: That's WI abbreviated without an S! Well worth getting it correct for all the good union teachers in WI!

1. Very good a year from now when he can be recalled
according to WI law. However, a quicker option would be for prominent Wisconsinites to persuade him to resign way before then.

Oh, there are plenty on record that Walker has knowingly violated.

5. very very good
the man is toast as soon as humanly possible. Unfortunately, that's next February/March...

How he won? TOO MANY GD DEMOCRATS SAT ON THEIR HANDS EITHER DUE TO APATHY OR TO "SEND A MESSAGE"!!! (see my sig line...)

According to unitedwisconsin.com - one of the more popular "recall walker sites" - there have been 133,095 pledges so far to recall Walker. I think about 33,000 have come in since last night. (or maybe 21K).

We need at a minimum 540K of verifiable acceptable signatures. They want at least 600K... we'll only have two months to collect them - thus the "pledges" and building databases of people who want to sign.

Wow - the sig count looks great so far!
That's an impressive start; with 133K in just the past few days...

QUESTION: So WI voters reach 600K - then what happens? Does that trigger a re-call vote? Obviously they have to certify the validity of the petitioners.

6. Very high if all...
Democrats keep their eye on the ball and never forget. 2012 can be big for us if we want it enough.

7. I would think that if he is charged with a crime
(I read here somewhere that some group is encouraging the feds to investigate him for racketeering) he could be gone sooner? The question is will the AG act?

8. Here's how:
McCain-Palin votes 2008 1,262,393
Scott Walker votes 2010 1,128,941

Most of the idiots in 2008 voted again in 2010.

21. Walker received nearly 90% of the number of votes that McCain received,
while Barrett only received 60% of the number of votes that went to Obama. If Barrett would have gotten a quarter of those over 600,000 Obama votes who didn't bother to vote last November he would have beaten Walker.

A sign I saw in Madison:

10. There are many in Wisconsin who voted for him because he sold them the "family values" line -
and many of these are working class folks who are religious. It is the most important thing republicans have done to maintain their power - convince people that they are the party of "Christian" values. But some of those folks are also teachers, police, fire dept. members - and they are not happy with him now. He said absolutely zero in his campaigning about doing away with collective bargaining. I think they have a very good shot at recalling him.

11. I'll never trust e-voting so really don't know if I believe he actually won
that said, I think the chances are VERY good that enough signatures will be collected to have him recalled.

12. Very good, especially because Russ Feingold could be his opponent
Edited on Thu Mar-10-11 08:09 PM by brentspeak
Even moderate Republican Wisconsin voters are regretting how completely divisive Walker is to their state. Feingold is an unapologetic liberal, but he has the respect of enough WI independents and moderate Republicans to defeat Walker.

17. Salon: "Can you say 'Governor Russ Feingold'?"
He hasn't declared any intention yet, but the article suggests that Russ would be a shoe-in:

24. As much as I love Russ I am not sure he gives us our best chance to boot Walker.
It could be Barrett gives us the best chance.

Shortly after that, he'll be a guest "star" on Dancing with the Stars probably. Just like Bristol Palin.
