It shows, once and for all, Obama's true colors and whose side he's really on here.

1. 2/28:"Obama, speaking out on Wisconsin labor standoff, says public employees should not lose rights"
Edited on Thu Mar-10-11 08:09 PM by ClarkUSA
The Los Angeles Times headline from Feb. 28, 2011:

President Obama on Monday waded into the labor standoff in Wisconsin and warned that the rights of public employees should not be infringed upon.

Speaking to the National Governors Assn., Obama noted that many states as well as the federal government face tough economic choices. But the president, who has been criticized by some labor allies for not speaking out more forcefully on the Wisconsin situation, noted the fight between Wisconsin's public unions and the Republican administration in Madison.

"I don't think it does anybody any good when public employees are denigrated or vilified or their rights are infringed upon," Obama said in televised remarks. "We need to attract the best and brightest to public service. These times demand it."

22. What do you want him to do???
You want him to fly to Wisconsin and protest? Is that what you're asking for? Or do you want him to get on national TV and bash the Wisconsin Republicans? Why would he? They are HANGING themselves. Not to mention the global arabic crisis he is currently dealing with.

In my opinion, he listened to good advice. Let the situation play out and destroy them in 2012 with a wave of middle class anger. After that is done, you can say and do anything you want because you have four years to run the show and do whatever you want. You don't have to worry about being elected again. You can't be. And btw, you get to control the entire executive branch for eight years.

Therefore, yes, that is what I am asking for. I'm asking for him to stick to a goddamn promise for once.

25. dean, wellstone, and alinski are proud of what is happening in wisconsin
a people`s revolution against the established order. that established order is the present day obama`s democratic party and others who pay no respect to the people.
i have lost respect in our president but you and i know the reality is he is better than anyone on the other side. that is not a choice we should be given. faith and respect are earned by deeds not words. asahinakimi you have a long life ahead that will be filled with these moments.

Edited on Thu Mar-10-11 08:08 PM by dennis4868
his stance with the unions in front of all of the governors at the WH dinner last week was awesome and the unions appreciated it very much. The SEIU thanked Obama fore the incredible behind the scenes support they were getting from his administration....I agree with you...true colors are coming out! :-)

6. Yes, he is on the side of the Wisconsin workers.
The unions have asked him not to go to Wisconsin and he didn't.
There are grassroots Wisconsinites that want Obama to stay away, because they said 'this is our fight'.

Btw, President Obama issued a message via his PressSec today:
http://twitter.com/PressSec
POTUS says we must come together & set aside partisanship to fix our budgets. Actions last night in #Wisconsin violate those principles.

And on MSNBC tonight they said that The White House said that 'the vote in Wisconsin is an assault on the American workers'.

18. it's funny that we all "irrationally hate" (a code word for "you hate him b/c he's black") yet most
of us who all of a sudden "irrationally hate him" supported him from the get-go. I supported him from the get-go, so did many of us who are now critics of him.

To me, saying we "irrationally hate him" (I don't hate him, I hate his policies) implies that legitimate criticism of his policies is something racial (after all, why else would we all "irrationally" hate him?)......and wrongly equivocates those of us on the left with racist right-wing shit.

he said it the night he won the presidential election - he reminded everyone that change happens in baby steps...it always has in politics......but many wanted change by yesterday....not just change but PERFECT change....even with a strong opposition in congress with a 24/7 fillubuster in the senate.

Don't believe everything you read.
If you do believe it then POST A LINK to a REAL QUOTE with a name attached to it.
Obama nor any top official said any of those things that the NYTs printed.

23. Sigh
I am a big Union supporter and a big Obama supporter. I find the idea of Obama traveling to Wisconsin and speaking at a Union rally during this time period to be incredibly short sighted. In fact, we have the law on our side and it was better for the President to stand on the outside and respect States rights. That's the bottom line of the argument.

We WIN in the courts because of what Walker resorted to. And btw, our entire Union base is now mobilized for 2012. BEFORE Obama started his active 2012 campaign. Do you really believe that Obama doesn't support the Democrats and the Union in Wisconsin? This was carefully handled by them. Not to mention he's sitting in the White House dealing with a GLOBAL crisis he inherited?

Give the man a chance to get reelected. What are you looking for? A Republican President in January 2013? This country desperately needs 16 of 24 years of Democratic Party rule in the Executive Branch. Not to mention how that plays out in the Supreme Court.
