My unions is UFCW Local 328 United Food & Commercial Workers. A nice bunch of caring people. Always ready to help. It works for all kind of charities, like sick children and the local food banks. Now, as for Little Rhody you could have very well napped through it on your way to Massachusetts. You can actually see the entire state in about 24 hours. We are known as the Ocean State because we are 3/4 surrounded by water. (not my idea, some politician's) Speaking of politicians, yes, our General Assembly has about 70 democrats and about 5 Republicans. My representative is a Democrat. A good guy BTW, he always answers my emails and keeps me informed as to what's going on in the State House. Granted he and I don't always agree on things, but yes, I voted for him over a Republican because the person they put up against him was to put it mildly, a nice guy, but an idiot. LOL. Our biggest industry here used to be costume jewelry, but now it's ship building. We have built many of the J boats that have been used for winning The America's Cup. We also build nice big yachts for rich actors like Morgan Freeman, Donald Sutherland, Kevin Costner & Jim Carrey to name a few. So if you're ever in the market for a yacht David this is the place to come. BTW, the yachts are tax free but our governor wants to change that. Oh yes, speaking of which; I'm surprised you haven't heard about, Caprio saying "shove it" to Obama because it was on almost every national news show and the front page of the NY Times. Here's what happened, GOP Senator Lincoln Chafee lost the senate so he came back to Rhody and decided to run as an independent for Governor. Now Chafee and Obama are very friendly because Chafee totally supported Obama. Frank Caprio was the democrat nominee for Governor and he asked Obama for an endorsement, Obama couldn't go against his good buddy Chafee so he declined to endorse anybody here. So when the media asked what Caprio thought about Obama dissing him, Frank Caprio said: "President Obama can take his endorsement and shove it." Before that comment Caprio was way ahead in the state polls, once he told Obama to "shove it", that pretty much put a nail in Caprio's political coffin and so now we're have Obama's good buddy, Chafee for 4 years. And that's the Rhody news, respectfully submitted (name withheld) Again apologies to rest of the members here. P.S. No, I 've never lived anywhere but here, and that's another thing about Rhode Islanders they hate to travel, but my husband and I have talked about moving down south, possibly Georgia. A very pretty state. Some day.
