Should U.S. Taxpayers Pay For Undeclared Wars?

Under the U.S. Constitution, only Congress can declare war. Yet since the Korean War, U.S. Presidents have sent and are sending U.S. soldiers off to fight, kill and die in war and these presidents are accountable to no-one for their illegal actions. We should not be paying for these wars which should not be happening.

America's founders feared giving presidents this power because historically it had been abused by kings and other despots and unchecked, it had led to numerous disasters, destroying human life and everything else in its path and bankrupted treasuries. To America, this is happening now.

Congress controls the government's purse strings but as we've seen, it readily and blindly funds every war, Iraq and Afghanistan being the latest examples. It does this in the empty abstraction of "national security," even as our nation is going broke.

Worse yet, the military industrial complex understanding how Congress functions, placed military contracts in virtually every Congressional District. So now, when our country is going broke in part from its perpetual wars and the endless building of weapons of war, Congress actually over funds the military because of all the jobs it creates or keeps in each District. Taxpayers and heavy borrowing and printing of money pay for these jobs.

How do we solve these severe problems? No Congressionally declared war, no funding! By doing this we are restoring our Constitution and the intentions of our nation's founders. And when war is declared or weapons systems are to be built, it is pay as you go. Nothing goes on the credit card. With these actions, you and I can help restore moral and fiscal sanity to a system that has gone war mad.

4. Congress did authorize these "Conflicts" though

Many Democrats in Congress helped pass the IWR (Iraqi War Resolution) which authorized the pResident to take military action. These are not technically "Wars" so no formal Declarations were needed..Sucks.....
