Left-leaning websites
To me, it appears there is a void in websites that we need.

Where can I find info on:

Corporations that support RW candidates or causes?
Corporations that pay little or no US taxes?
Corporations that advertise on far RW programs?

I realize that Buy Blue attempted to do this but they bit off more than they could chew. Who else supplies this info?

1. I think you would be better served finding unbiased sites
http://www.fec.gov/finance/disclosure/norindsea.shtml
http://www.opensecrets.org/index.php

There are plenty of unbiased sites that will provide this information as it's public record. Both sides of the spectrum have nutjobs, and some of them are very good at hiding this. You may find a site that seems to be honest, but its manipulating stats and numbers to prove their point.

It may take more effort going to unbiased sites like this, but this way you will be more confident that the information is accurate.

11. WRONG! False equivalence. The sites on the right............
LIE! Sites on the left DO NOT lie. That's just the way it is. Other competing left sites will CALL an untruth on their ideological sector. The right side doesn't call on the lie. They just pass it on.

There's NO equivalence here.

12. if serious, that's quite silly....
It is very silly to assume the left doesn't lie. Of course they do. As do the right. If you would like to compare the amount of lies, thats one thing. But to claim that nobody on the left ever lies is a ridiculous statement.

14. When the left lies or is mistaken, THEY ARE CALLED ON IT...........
When the right lies, their lies are passed on by OTHER right sites. The ONLY people that call out RW lies are the left.

Any time anybody says that "both sides do it", it's a right wing talking point that creates a false equivalence. BOTH SIDES DO NOT DO IT!

15. so your argument is....
that when the left lies, they are called on it....but they don't lie.

Very interesting that they can be called out regarding things that never happened.

Fox News lies. Most people know that. However, some people are so far to the right, that they they dont recognize the lies or they don't care about them. There are plenty of people that call out Fox News when they lie. I know of many watchdog sites devoted to the many lies that Fox News puts out. Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert usually spent a few minutes on every show pointing out a lie from Fox News.

There are also many right wing groups that monitor leftist organizations like MSNBC for accuracy. MSNBC is much better than Fox regarding accuracy, but they still lie on occasion.

Sure, the right may lie much more than the left, but they aren't the only ones doing it.

16. There are occasional mistakes made by what little bit.........
of left media there are out there, but no, they don't lie. There are occasional mistakes made which are QUICKLY corrected either by the ones making the mistake or their collegues. THEY DON'T HAVE TO LIE. The TRUTH has a "liberal" bias.

To say anything else is to promote the right wing meme of equivalency. THERE IS NO EQUIVALENCY. The right lies, the left doesn't. PERIOD.

organization similar to Move On.

3. Here's a link to get you started on political contributions
Edited on Fri Mar-11-11 10:37 AM by texastoast
http://maplight.org/

There are a lot of resources out there, but I don't know of a site that really zeros in as a resource for all things progressive. Such a site would include info on all of our issues. Education, environment, civil rights, blue businesses right down to the local level, etc. Maybe a market waiting to be tapped?

Check out Exxon's contributions from maplight.

5. Maplight is a great site, I forgot about that
But it is not a left leaning site. Legit non-partisan sites will usually give you the best, and most reliable information.

6. Tapping into too many progressive issues is what ruined Buy Blue.
There should be a website that shows companies with good environmental records, donations, practices, etc, but if you mix that with labor issues, education, etc, etc, no company would stand out.
It would work best if the issues were separated.
