Fox News or the Onion? Oklahoma Doctors Can Legally Pretend To Give Abortions
Edited on Fri Mar-11-11 12:31 PM by ehrnst
"Doctors in the state will now be able to act like they've just given a woman an abortion and send her on her way."

http://tinyurl.com/4pg4zct

(spoiler - it's the Onion, but it's a dead on take of the OK law allowing doctors to withold information on any fetal defects that are present if the physician thinks that the woman will have an abortion.)

4. "Oklahoma Law Allows Doctors to Lie to Women"
Actual news from April 2010.

"The second measure passed into law Tuesday protects doctors from malpractice suits if they decide not to inform the parents of a unborn baby that the fetus has birth defects. The intent of the bill is to prevent parents from later suing doctors who withhold information to try to influence them against having an abortion. "

3. And take her money, and then she'll be back later when she realizes
that she's still carrying the fetus? So fraud, theft and medical malpractice is now "legal". Yeah, that's a great precedent to set. :grr:

6. It's from the Onion - but riffs on an OK law that allows Drs to lie about any birth defects
This just carries it one step further - and the actors are so on the money in imitating fox and friends...

5. That is so fucking unethical it's unbelievable.
It violates ALL of the four medical ethics principles.

Autonomy: Totally disregards a person's right to control their own body.

Beneficence: Is NOT acting in the best interests of the patient.

Maleficence: Absolute intent to harm the woman.

Justice: Absolute intend to commit fraud.
