2 Questions for liberals...
1. What will America's businesses do when the majority of the population is no longer even dreaming of being middle class and concentrating only on surviving?

2. What will this country be like as a one party state run by corporate puppets?

We have to imagine both questions and come up with responses that others can understand too. If you recoil from these questions it may be that you are not ready for the changes that must come if we are to be the country all of us want it to be. It is my experience that questions that make us angry are probably the right ones to be thinking about.

These thoughts came to mind at a recent meeting of our local Democratic Committee of Correspondence at B&N. What retailers will be able to survive? Think of the restaurant businesses that can only exist because of people's disposable incomes. But now we are facing the real possibility of people having little or no disposable income. Losing middle class jobs means being where very few have ever been and if they were in that spot vowed never to return to; that is abject unremitting poverty where survival from day to day is the only concern. If you haven't been there then you will be in for a very swift education if the Republican elites are not stopped for that is what union busting ala Wisconsin is all about.

Whatever history we may have or may be allowed to remember being a one party oligarchic state means a dictatorship/tyranny. Do you think that you will be allowed to drive from sea to shining sea on a whim or a need? You will have to ask your local business CHOSEN representative if the CORPORATION will allow you to use a car that they will now own to leave the house that they will also own to visit family or friends. You will be a prole who is lied to about everything - it will be much worse than it is today. If you like our current state, which I know we DUers don't, you will love the future.

But we can resist in many ways this dire outlook. We can read more books on the history and arts of humanity. We can read classics and make them part of our consciousness. We can set an example of liberality and kindness that will put to shame the voices of intolerance and meanness. Lastly we can pull our conservative family members and friends over to our side by helping them see that they are being as disrespected as we are by those elites who have nothing but contempt for anyone they don't play golf with. Let the world and your neighbors see that you are different and why.

3. Yep!
They are the party of discontent, eternal discontent. Eventually they will feed on each other when no one else is left standing.

8. That is not a certainty for this reason;

They have been conditioned to blame other Americans for our national woes. They have been told that the 'liberals' are the cause of the problem. Unfortunately, because most of the teabaggers are ignorant morons, they will not actually examine the facts and realize that our problems are caused by corporate powers. Instead, they will take it on faith (that's how they operate) that the lower wages and benefits, higher prices, and overall reduction in quality of life are the fault of 'immigrants', 'negros', and 'socialist liberals'.

Then, when they are whipped into a frenzy and scared shitless, they will be told that it's time to round these 'non-Americans' up.

*Poof* - Full blown fascism.

I'm not saying that the corporations will have absolute control over these morons, but it looks as though there is a plan in the works.

4. We are already a corporate state and corporations sell to a
global market. All you are to them is a unit and nothing matters as long as you keep consuming. Oh, I almost forgot, they need to keep you fearful and uneducated, reacting without critical thinking.

5. Question 1. Already happening...They expand to markets overseas.
Question 2. We are witnessing a one party state run by corporate puppets.
The questions you asked are already happening though it's only the beginning. The reality is that there are limited markets overseas and all the current corporate leadership is hoping is that they are retired by time it too dries up. Zero foresight, only greed.
As for the rest of us...we are on our own for a while. That is until the people really get pissed and take matters into their own hands. It won't be pretty but I believe that things have to get a lot worse before that happens.

6. Dunno. When something like this happened in France back in the day

they kind of indiscriminately cut a bunch of wealthy people's heads off and then took all their stuff...well, not necessarily in that order...I mean, I'm just sayin'...
;-)

Hopefully we can come up with a much better idea than this to solve the problem soon. Look what Gandhi and crew did in India. A united front dedicated to a policy of solidarity and non-cooperation brought the British Empire to its knees. We can unite, strike, boycott, protest, and practice ethical civil disobedience.

They can't do anything without us.

And committing random acts of kindness and senseless beauty is always an awesome thing to do. These actions are great fun, and become even more significant when accompanied by dedication and action toward a cause promoting freedom from tyranny and basic human rights.

As for conservative acquaintances, if they don't get it by now they have serious sensitivity/perception challenges. Continuous constant exposure to Fox News over a period of many years has made some of them brainwashed beyond all hope. And those that retain some semblance of free thought process new information very slowly. It is intrinsically difficult for conservatives to adapt to change, and when the notion that the foundation of everything that they believe in is actually so much bullshit it scares them and they park the thought in some rarely accessed part of their consciousness that is only breached when another indisputable truth that shakes the foundations of their false news created reality is right there in front of their nose.

Better to institute the mass Gandhi kind of stuff and let them go from there and not waste a whole lot of time confusing ignorant people with indisputable political social or economic facts when they basically still believe the earth is flat and was created 5,000 yrs ago or whatever their favorite conservative myths du jour are.
