Sunrail is not dead in Florida--yet
Scott delays SunRail decision until July

TALLAHASSEE -- Gov. Rick Scott is delaying a final decision about whether to let the $1.2-billion SunRail commuter train in Central Florida move forward until mid-summer, long after the 60-day legislative session ends.

The governor has kept $235 million in contracts for rail cars, an engine and construction for the 61-mile line on hold since January, saying he was reviewing whether to allow the project to go forward.

But because there is some federal transit cash involved in the deal, Scott's office faced a March deadline to either give the train a go-ahead or scrap it.

Scott on Friday directed the Florida Department of Transportation to sign the contracts with added language that would lock in the prices but allow the governor to delay making a final decision on the project until July, officials said.

2. he's gonna leave this state in flames... that's what cons do.
I'm amazed that even more GOPers haven't jumped off the Scott bandwagon than we've seen so far.

Let's hope his continued malfeasance leads to him being shown the door! What he proposes to do by cutting funds to so many needy individuals is criminal. Shame that 51% of voters thought he was better than Sink, just bewildering.

4. Make no mistake, he's going to burn that project to the ground
Most teabagger types I know around Orlando are absolutely against the idea of commuter rail. One of the reasons is they're afraid that homeless people will use it - I shit you not, that is one of their concerns.

7. Exactly
That is the unsaid reason why they fought against a station in Winter Park.
