More U.S. history Bachman style:
Bachmann fails political geography 101

By KENDRA MARR | 3/12/11 9:57 AM EST Updated: 3/12/11 11:28 AM EST

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann kicked off her first swing through the Granite State with an unfortunate gaffe.

"You're the state where the shot was heard around the world at Lexington and Concord," she said Saturday morning at an event organized by the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire. "And you put a marker in the ground and paid with the blood of your ancestors."

Good, patriotic stuff … only the “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” was fired about 70 miles to the south in Concord, Massachusetts.

For a candidate already known for her gaffes in public remarks, this is not a good start for her New Hampshire debut.

1. Do you think Bachman's NH base ...
... knows their history either?

4. Well, in her defense, it was a very loud shot, "heard 'round the world" . . .
so it was probably heard in New Hampshire as well.

Ah, she is good for one thing: Almost every time she opens her mouth, something stupidly funny comes out of it.

5. ZOMG!
Can we invent a new word for 'stupid' for Bachmann...she is really abusing the term!

How about ignorrogence - when you would just rather not learn about certain things, like your 6 year old knowing more about US history then a federal congress critter.

6. Does this woman run anything past her staff?
Or does her mouth run on autopilot?
Maybe she employs a bunch of bobble headed toadys who nod their heads in unison and say "good one".

11. You must be thinking of the Dubuque tea party
When all the Lipton Ice Tea was tossed into the Mississippi River to protest the taxes imposed by Hitler in 1833.

13. Sadly (for her) with just moments on "the google"...
...she (or any literate staffer-she must have one, right?) could have found the attack on Fort William and Mary which predated the "shot heard round the world" by 4 months. It also marked the first successful taking of a King's fort in the colonies and the striking of the Union Jack. A reference to that event in her speech would have delighted New Hampshire residents and sent the network pundits racing for their history books and marked her as an expert in US history.

But to her and her ilk small errors are tossed off and I'm certain when she visits Maine she will talk about the storming of the Bastille since Maine has a Paris or of melancholy princes since they have a Denmark. It just shows clearly the lightweight nature of their understanding of the what and wheres of our nation and the world.

They cannot be bothered to actually learn and understand, only to cheaply hit their version of a high note.
And thank god for that. Because as Ron White said "You can't cure stupid...".
