Fellow DUers who are freaking out should not be accused of HOPING FOR DISASTER
So you, and ya'll know who you are, can knock that off right now.

Ya see, some of us oldtimers have been warning and warning and warning people about the shit that goes down here in the USA, and we were accused of being nuts, etc., much rolling of the eyes...and it fukkin turns out that we were RIGHT. Even out Creepublican "friends" and "neighbors" admit it now! And we've been lied to and lied to and lied to again, by "our leaders", and "our media", and guess what? WE EXPECT IT NOW. So have an ounce of compassion, and either try to reason your fellow DUer off the ledge, or ignore them. The interboard nastiness has got to stop.

2. A disaster wouldn't do any good. Not against the corporations.
If last years oil spill in the gulf proved anything, it's that profits come first.

10. Yes exactly, profits before people
or before the environment ... profit, that's all that counts in this world. :-(

7. nor should DUers accuse others of being shills for the nuclear industry
Edited on Sat Mar-12-11 05:06 PM by Hannah Bell
because they ask people to stop freaking out, stop predicting imminent meltdown on limited evidence, stop reporting unverified twits & twats & start linking their sources. these people know who they are too and in fact are continuing to do so as witness this thread.

14. Meltdown can still happen. Now the emergency cooling system of a nearby reactor has also failed.

Too bad I don't have the English links yet: http://www.spiegel.de/, but this is a good and valuable source. Click on the 'English' for translated articles.

It's not over yet, so anyone should just hold their breath, pro and contra included. 150,000 people evacuated from the 'safe energy' zone by now, many decontaminated. Iodine pills mass depleted. Okay, I won't freak. Radioactivity is just a normal source of things, right?

Tepco, owner of the nuclear power plant Fukushima has a long record of deadly accidents, fake repair documents and so on. The nuclear power plant should have been taken off by end of March. Guess the tsunami was a bit early. That's not their fault, sure. I mean, there wasn't any change of an earthquake or tsunami there, was it? It's just a bad accident unfortunately happening. Strontium and Cesium, well, it goes away after a few years, anyway.

60,000 in Germany spontaneous demonstrating against nuclear power plants in Germany today (what freaks!) Angela Merkel, while holding onto nuclear power wants full investigations into safety issues. Wonder why. The owners of the plants surely know best how to operate such things safely. :sarcasm:

Haven't heard of so many casualties using renewing power sources yet.

Edited on Sat Mar-12-11 07:56 PM by Hannah Bell
demonstrations against nuclear power have to do with the physical facts of this crisis.

a lot of people seem to be mixing the two things.

people's opinions about nuclear power have no relevance to this occurrence.

9. We fought off-shore oil drilling for decades... then BP
and donned flame suits for it even here.

Now this lesson needs to be re-learned I guess. Frustrating. I'm tired. I just want to protect my kid from getting thyroid cancer 12 years from now...

12. Me too - I am a staunch anti-nukie. I am also a stauch supporter of facts and truth.
Being anti-nuke doesn't entitle one to create ones own reality and peddle it as fact.

21. Either way
it's a real pisser when you cannot come to a message board and post your opinion without being ridiculed.

Am I worried? Absolutely! Am I dancing and waiting for a catastrophe? NO and I find that assertion completely insulting.

Thanks for the post elehhhhna.
