MADISON, WI: This is what a whole hell of a lot of people look like (dial up warning)
The reverberating sound of the crown inside the buildings around the Square was...breathtaking.

(best crowd shots I've been able to find)

It was packed like a Singapore subway train.

35. I missed those Lefta!
We were so busy navigating the thick and friendly crowds with two little kids. We couldn't even tell who was speaking we were so far back in the crowd. Well, except Jesse Jackson...no mistaking that voice. Today, Mr. AC and I collected petition sigs in Baraboo to recall Luther Olsen. It was very empowering...more so than a rally if you can believe it!

4. And nary a fucking PEEP from the media.
I hope that at least local media is keeping the people there informed, because the national media is not.

11. Unacceptable Is All I Can Say... But It's Almost A Fact Of Life Now! I Realize That Japan
is an overwhelming AND very scary situation, but a "peep" most assuredly should have been given. THIS IS OUR country that is at stake and MSM is once again pushing "we the people" to the back burner!

SHAME!

13. That's what REALLY pisses me off. We need to start protesting the
media outlets. I've had it with them. I used to think it was just the bush cartel that prevented pravdaUSA from showing the truth. It's not just the bush cartel. It's USA Inc. that is fucking the people of this country. On the news. In the election booth. In the pentagon. In the legislatures.

12. We just got home - nothing like it - ever
had to have been 200+ thousand people. The tractorcade was unable to keep going because too many people poured in. We started walking in the street around the sqaure with others, but it became so oppressively packed we moved out to the sidewalk --then THAT was jam-packed! As we headed down State St. THAT became packed also! People were flooding in from every side street. It was overwhelming and absolutely amazing.... very cold wind that, by about 4pm had crept through all layers of clothing. Not even sure what to say...so tired and blown away by the wonderful experience

18. I hear you Sister!
At one point, I wanted to walk to the 'edge' of the crowd to have a cigarette, cause I'm a polite modern human (and this is Madison...). It took me almost 35 minutes to get there.

Shuffling is much, much more tiring than walking.

Amazing day, in every way.

16. WOW
The people speak.

And the GOP has their fingers in their ears. I cannot wait for the recalls to start rolling out, for people to start pulling their money out of certain banks, for the boycotts to really begin to take hold. With what the GOP has planned and is putting into effect, it isn't going to take long before this becomes a nationwide movement and the working class will once again make history.

Shine on,
Annette

I wish I could've been there. Ohio's next big protest is Tuesday for the release of Kasich's budget. Doubt we'll get a huge crowd, but hopefully it'll be a few thousand.

23. Funny. Detroit WXYZ TV 7 (ABC) only showed some tractors and a few people. Hmm.
As I recall, the protest was said to be "unique" having people being lead around by tractors.

In video, tractors loomed large and people seemed sparse -- not wanting to be run over for sure.

But, that was it. Must have missed our channel 4 coverage.

Disgusting people.

36. And in the middle of all that when we had to get a stretcher through
for a medical emergency, people moved. I couldn't believe they opened up a path, but they did as soon as they saw the paramedics and understood what was happening. Like waters parting. Less than 5 min to get in and out about a half block through a very thick crowd and back to a waiting ambulance with a sick college student. Crowded, but happy and cooperative people.

I was a marshall again, there were about 100 of us working in cooperation with police. Madison police are very proud that everything has gone so well and that there have been no arrests at all in 3 weeks. Crime is DOWN in the Capitol area, way DOWN. They have had emails from all over the country congratulating them on handling so many people so well... but they give the credit to the volunteers and the people of Madison. Huge contrast to the sixties, great partnership between citizens and police this time. Lots of hugging. :hi:

39. Any Tea Partiers come around to be counted on fingers?

I notice the Tea Party hasn't been around again after that first Saturday. Probably Koch & Co called off the astroturfing because the illusion that the Tea Party was anywhere near a majority movement would be in danger.

43. Tea Party
There were no Tea Party members that I could spot. The grounds and the inside was full of Scott Walker and the notorious recall 8.
Here are some pictures and an article about the movement from Saturday.
