A friend from the Houston area shared an important detail on the gang rape fallout

I was talking to an old university classmate (who happens to be black) today, who presently lives in the Houston area who pointed out what he felt was a rather glaring omission on the part of the media coverage of the "community meeting" from which the media has reported locals to be sympathetic to the rapists.

According to him what the media did not report was that the event was organized by a local crackpot affiliated with the Nation of Islam and the attendees were made up of crackpots who attend Nation of Islam gatherings and not a representative sample of concerned local citizens. And that Mr. Quanell X is about as representative of the black community of Houston as Glenn Beck is of the white community.

Basically, he objects to the media reporting on the ramblings of a group of self-selected lunatics as to present the community as sympathetic to rapists.

Just an interesting detail I was previously unaware of, the Nation of Islam as a representative sample?

1. Thanks for post this. Associating the whole community with the crackpots usually happens w stories

involving 'minorities'. that's why blacks, latinos, asians, etc... cringe when there is a horrendous crime committed by someone of their race and whites don't.
