1. Ahh, that makes me feel so bad for the animals...
that are left terrified and terrorized. Finding comfort from the nearest human is pretty endearing, though, I must say. ;)

3. When we have a quake, the not so friendly Nanday
needs me to seat by him until he calms down. So I get it.

6. My doggy girl is so terrified of thunder, that she begins to react...
with the first hint of winds picking up or the sky darkening. Full adrenaline/noradrenaline/cortisol reaction with dilated pupils panting, trembling and inconsolable fear. I don't even want to contemplate what fear she would experience in an earthquake.

Like SoCalDem, I have tried not to think of these poor animals who likely perished along with so many humans. It is so painful and heart-breaking to think there was nothing their humans could do for them.

8. Does your vet prescribe anything for poor doggie?
Our our 80 # dog gets vet prescribed Valium, and it takes 20 mg. to calm him down during our infamously loud and frequent house rattling thunderstorms. Otherwise he tries to squeeze under the puter desk,
which is not big enough for half of him.
In a pinch, 50 mg of Benedryl will work.

10. I've used any number of tranquilizing drugs in the past...
She has too many emerging health issues to safely use them now and frankly they never worked that well.

14. Whenever my Chihuahua hears thunder,
she hides behind the couch, but nothing else frightens her. She is fearless otherwise and will attack any human who enters the house. But of course, that is a Chihuahua's nature.

9. If you think about it it's not sad
Because he/she got the comfort he/she was looking for. think of the wild animals that had nothing to seek for comfort that's sad
