Rep. KamaAina is convening hearings on the radicalization of Christianity.
After all, if we're going to stoke the flames of religious hysteria, justice demands that we do so in a fair, evenhanded manner. :sarcasm:

So who wants to testify?

2. As a Christian I support that idea. I would gladly see the churches
return to the pre-rw era when they were more concerned about world hunger than politics.

16. Or, you could come to exciting San Jose
we even have a "local kine" restaurant in Japantown (one of three authentic Nihonmachi left on the mainland!). :-)

I can't even remember! But if I go to San Jose or anywhere near, I'll write first, and bring kulolo or poin or whatevas.

How is life on the big big island?

6. I say you demand the Fundies read the part of their bible that's in red letters.
Some bibles have red letters to indicate the most important parts.

9. but, you see, at DU its fun to brand ALL as "bad", and that includes the "red letter" Christians.
"red letter" --direct words of Christ.

11. Supposedly the red font is used for words they believe were actually spoken by Jesus.

At least that is how one fundamentalist student of mine explained it to me when she noted with surprise that my copy of the bible had no red lettering. I am an agnostic, but since I teach literature and tutor in many subjects that reference material in the bible, I often need to refer to the bible--especially the King James version--for classes.my

7. As a GLBT woman, I feel that radicalized Christianity threatens my personal safety.
Edited on Sun Mar-13-11 02:52 PM by Lyric
To that effect, I would like to offer the following for consideration:

1. Banning all Christian religious authorities. Christianity is a creeping poison, and I fear that these groups might infiltrate our government in their quest to take over the entire world.
2. Opposing the construction of new Christian churches with protests, bigoted LsTTE, and other demeaning actions.
3. Confronting random Christians in public places and calling them out as the KKK-supporting, Eric-Rudolph-worshiping, Scott-Roeder idolizing terrorists that they all secretly are. This is most effective when done right in front of their innocent children. If they've done nothing wrong, why should they care?
4. Sending my kid to school with lots of new slurs and taunts to throw at the Christian kids.
5. Starting corporate-funded advertising groups to demonize Crusadist Christians for the terrorist-sucking vermin that they are.
6. Assuming that all Christians are guilty of treason and supporting Christian terrorists until they provide extensive proof otherwise.
7. Singling out Christians for extra security checks, tapping their phones, examining their library books, collecting information on their Google searches, and keeping a running "list" of known Christians and Christian sympathizers in order to keep an eye on their nefarious and subversive activities.

Of course, "good" Christians have nothing to worry about. They have no reason to complain or be insulted. After all, none of this is meant for THEM. Why, they should be right out there participating WITH us!

:sarcasm: (<----needed? Probably not, but you never know...)

10. Can we get a string of Baptist denominational leaders
to disavow any connection to the Westboro Baptist thugs? If it hasn't happened, it's long overdue.
